Medical tourism for PS
After looking at pics, Dr. Sauceda estimated the cost at about $17k. I found the paperwork from my visit with the local guy, and it was estimated between $36-38k. That's a significant enough difference for me to make the trip.
I'm going to make an attempt at getting the LBL (or part) done on the insurance company dime first, since I'm having some pain and skin breakdown issues. If I get a denial, then I'm headed South.
Dr. S. also said he'll do the LBL, thighs and arms/flanks all in one day. Nobody around here would do it in less than 2 visits. I expect the pain to be brutal, but I have a high tolerance in general, and I can stand anything as long as there is an end to it in sight.
He was very frank in our emails. He said I'd have to move like a 90 year old after surgery, even if I happen to feel like moving better. He said "this will be, by far, the longest surgery you've ever had. I'm going to have to basically peel you and reattach the skin, so you'll have to go slow and let it create attachments." Sounds like a fun outing :)
How will you move without the use of your arms, legs, or core?

We are all in a rush for the final result. I think I messaged you before. Just because someone sais that they "can" do something, doesn't mean that it "should be done" or that you will recover well. It will not cost you more to break up the surgeries in two will it? If your surgeries are a certain amount then he pays for your flight and hotel. Why the rush, why the risk, why not give your body time to heal fully between procedures. I also would LOVE to have it all done at once, however, I do not want to put that extra burden on my immune system or my body
What changed your mind in the last year?
