Do people actually notice?
Inspired by a previous post...
For those of you who have had plastic surgery - did people actually notice and comment unsolicited? I'm curious about this because my excess skin is pretty well hidden under clothes, aside from my arms since I wear sleeveless and short sleeve things all the time. So I'd be surprised if the people in my life who don't see me naked will even notice that I've had plastic surgery.

No. Absolutely no one noticed. I held everything in place with shapewear so I did not look any different afterwards. I did not even go down in size. Personally I am glad no one noticed. I did this for me, not to get attention.

That's pretty much what I'm envisioning will happen with me too - perhaps not for my arms, but I seriously doubt people are paying attention to my arms anyway.

Apparently I jinxed myself by saying I'm sure no one pays attention to my arms anyway..
Yesterday some total random stranger asked me about losing weight - she said she could tell I'd lost a lot because of my arms.
Self-confidence: CRUSHED.

Oh no!! I am shocked by how rude some people can be. How dare anyone comment on anyone else's body, especially random strangers!! That really ****** me off!!
Sorry she hurt her feelings.

You're gorgeous, you're strong, and you're amazing. To heck with the haters!!!!!!!!
I say this because the EXACT SAME THING happened to me last weekend. Someone came up to me in the grocery store and commented about my "batwings." (Her word, not mine.) I was crushed at first but for a change had an on-the-spot comeback. I flexed my biceps (which are quite strong now, thanks to a personal trainer) and my batwings and I challenged her (and her amused husband) to an arm wrestle. Right there in the store. She stammered an apology, which I accepted.
If this sounds all fierce and such, don't be fooled; I also admit that I cried my eyes out after I left the store. I felt like I was in 7th grade again. What gives someone the right to come up to a stranger and make such a statement???
Anyway, back to you: I am very sorry to hear that happened to you. Please don't let some jealous random stranger dictate your choices and your happiness. And if they do again, I say: arm wrestle 'em. :-)

137 pounds lost - from a 24/26W to a size 8/10!
Body work no. As for my arms - the scars are noticable, even though I healed very well. I needed a full arm lift - from 3 in below my elbows to 5 inches below my armpit on my side chest wall, so there is a lot of scar.
If you have a lot if face work done at one time, people will prob notice that something is different.
After a year or two, you may not care who knows because modern medicine is great and more people would be happier if they had the ps they really want. Cut, baby, cut. Lipo, baby, Lipo (within reason and budget)
Good luck, give yourself the time the heal. The more pressure you put on the scars the bigger the scars will be. Sweating is generally a no-no (increases swelling for awhile). Ask you dr for everything you can do to get the best scar appearance as possible.

That's interesting about the arm scars - I guess they will be really noticeable, I hadn't thought about it. I mean, I notice my mom's arm scar from orthopedic surgery. And Padma Lakshmi's arm scar from her childhood ninja encounter (or whatever).
I'm not worried about people noticing.. but it does seem like, unlike weight loss, it won't be as noticeable? But my body shape will be different, right? And people might notice that?
I'm not having any face work done, that seems to be the one area that has been spared thanks to being "young." I assume I might end up having my neck done when I'm older though!

No one has ever commented on my scars. Mine are on the inside of my arms so you cannot see them from the back. A friend of mine went to a different doctor and her scars are on the back of the arm so people can see them when they are behind her.
The scars really do not bother me. I am so thankful to be rid of the flapping skin!!

I figure if anyone ever asks about the scars I'll just have a bank of fun answers to give. Like tiger attack, or ninja training as a child, etc.
