Plastic surgeon in the Chicagoland area
Can anyone recommend a competent surgeon to perform the hanging skin surgeries in the Chicagoland area that will work with the insurance company to get as much covered as possible? And who won't hesitate to give you a cost for the procedures that aren't covered? You won't believe the issues we're having trying to get cost from our current surgeon for the chest skin removal surgery. We're not agreeing to move on the covered surgeries until we have a cost for the non-covered one as well. Who would?
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't met with her yet, but I was referred to Dr. Iris Seitz, who works out of Naperville or Elmhurst Hospital. She is familiar with reconstructive surgery and bariatric patients, both. I meet with her the first time Monday. I can let you know how it goes if you are interested. My surgeon, bariatrician, and PCP all suggested I meet with her...I am having severe mobility issues from skin post weight loss even though I have a ways to goal, so they found it prudent to not wait.
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

My situation is different as I am obese still and have lymphedema, so my surgical needs are different. She spent about an hour discussing options. I determined I would not get it at this time as I am revising my WLS instead.
She is very knowledgable, and I will return to her when ready without a doubt. She was professional and very direct, and I prefer my providers to act that way.

I just stumbled across Daniel Krochmal in Northbrook. He's fairly new in the Chicago area, but he did a surgical fellowship under Joseph Hunstad of Charlotte NC, who from what I can tell is pretty well-known nationally for body contouring of people like us. His (Krochmal's) reviews are very good - but he seems to do all kinds of surgery, so I'm not sure if we are his primary focus. But he might be worth some further research.
Thanks, worth a look.
