Recommendations in NYC Area?

Hello all!

I have searched the forums but couldn't find anything too recent so I thought I'd post anew: Does anyone have any surgeon recommendations in the NYC area? Specifically, I am interested to find surgeons in the area who are great AND who take insurance to attempt to cover some of the skin removal cost.

I'd like to start getting consultations very soon so I can plan financially. My bariatric surgeons office has been documenting a rash in the hopes of trying to get insurance to cover panni removal. Ideally, I'd like to go in for a LBL or TT and breast augmentation.

I do plan on contacting Dr. Cappella's office for one of those consults, but I already know he doesn't work with insurance companies at all, so if there are other wonderful surgeons out there who do, I'd like to try that route first.

Thank you!

I am scheduled to have a lower body lift, breast lift and arms done by Capella on Tuesday. Their office did submit everything to my insurance company for me and when it was denied, Dr. Capella even did the peer-to-peer review with the medical director of the insurance company. Even with all of that, after losing 200 pounds, I was still denied!!

Good luck!!!

Oh! That is so great to hear that he did that! I was under the impression he didn't deal with that aspect at all. Did you have documented rashes? I know chances are slim for approval, but I figure I have to try if it means saving some money!

How long from consultation did you wait to get a surgery date? Also, do you know roughly how much he charges for something like an LBL, if it's not too personal of a question? I am definitely hoping to combine that with an augmentation to cut down on costs.

Anyway, I'm so excited for you! So close!!! You have to share your results! I can't wait to hear your thoughts. I have heard so many wonderful things about his work with extreme weight loss patients and plan on scheduling a consult in the next month. :)

Thank you for the info!

Have you called your insurance company to make sure they'll cover it even with skin issues?  Mine won't - no matter what.  Sucky.

Yep! They will cover with skin issues or with it hanging past a certain amount, so I'm really hoping I can make it work.

I am definitely very happy about that. It sucks that your insurance won't cover it at all. :( I read your other posts and am having a lot of the same thoughts about goal, being "ready," etc.
