Breast Augmentation - sizing questions
Hi all, I am finally approved for the panni removal (only took 3 appeals!!!) and I am paying out of pocket to have my arms and breasts done at the same time. I am a bit scared to have all the procedures done at once but it is much cheaper to do them all together and then it is only one down time vs multiple thru the next year or so. I already purchased an automatic recliner that also lifts me to a standing position and my mom is on standby to take care of me the first week :)
I really have questions from those that have already had breast augmentation on sizing.....I went in for my sizing appointment yesterday and decided to go with 450 cc silicone implants (placed under muscle). I'm currently 5`6 and 170 lbs and my boobs have deflated to about an A however I still wear about a C in bra's as I have to stuff all the excess skin in. I would like to end up at about a D cup and wondering what others have gone with for implants and what size you ended up and if you wish you would have gone bigger or smaller? I just would hate to go thru this and in the end feel like they came out too small.
Also wondering what you would recommend for clothing after surgery. I'm thinking I'm going to need something that buttons up the front??
Feedback and hints for things I may need and what your recovery was like and what you found most helpful is greatly appreciated! I understand everyone's journey is different however more information the better.
Thank you
I didn't do sizing prior to my surgery. I just really trusted my surgeon. I told him I wanted to look natural and proportionate to my body, not looking to be a playboy model w/ the boobs. Said I was looking for possibly a full C or so. He took a few different sizes of implants in and put them in to see what looked the best. W/ the lift he went w/ just over 200cc's I think 235 or so (haven't looked at the registration thing in years). I ended up being a size D which I'm good w/. It fits my body and they look natural.
For clothes after surgery I just wore my oversized t-shirts that were very easy to put on. I didn't want to go out and buy button up shirts I probably would never wear. For pants I wore either loose pajama pants or my looser fitting workout pants.
I had a full LBL and arms done at the same time. Recovery from that was a piece of cake. Back to walking at the gym after 2 weeks and back to work full time after 4. When I had my boobs done (along w/ thighs) I was back to work in 10 days. The thighs were the worst part and maybe because of that I never noticed my boobs or had any real big discomfort w/ them.
Good luck on your surgery.
Mine did measurements to see what range would fit my frame and the profile I was looking for. for instance if you have a wide frame and get 400cc high profile it may not fit or look right. i was about the same height and weigt and had 520 silicone moderate profile. also depends on how much breast tissue you have
I think this has something to do with age also. Implants don't last forever - I think they get replaced at the 10-15 year mark.
I knew I would not want another surgery in 15 years, so I went with the breast lift with fat transfer. I am petite - just saying that totally makes me laugh - but a 5'3" and size 6 it's currently accurate (and God and OH's help, I will be that size for alot longer), I was never very big on top, I am super happy with my perky B's. (And goodvbye to my saddlebag thighs which were harvested for the fat transfer. They cannot transfer enough fat to get to you a D, but I put it out there as an option.

Congrats on your approval..perhaps you could share why they initially denied you and how you eventually won ?
As for combining procedures, it's a good idea provided your care is done in a facility with the appropriate aftercare and monitoring. Combination procedures mean you have one downtime, one time off work, and one exposure to anesthesia and one time period of blood clot risk. I have 2 of the recliners in my office for patients to take home as needed...they are a great aid to recovery BTW !
As for implants, an in-person sizing is important for the aesthetics. Measuring is also important. In WLS patients, the weight of the implant is also important to limit as the skin is very stretchy and often damaged...therefore these implants tend to sag quite early, esp. if a lift is being done. Its an individualized decision of course, but sometimes I do the lift first then add implants later.
Hope this helps
