Got my approval from OHIP and funds to upgrade!...now what...?
I got my approval for the Panni last week from OHIP after waiting 5 weeks and then subsequently had my mom offer to help pay for my upgrade to full abdominoplasty! Best mom EVER! lol.
Going with Dr. Daniel Martin who is just the nicest doctor i've ever met! Way better bedside manner than my bypass surgeon lol.
Getting the inverted T done so that I can get all over flat pull of the skin instead of just down...he asked if i am worried about scars.....i already look like Chucky went stab happy on my belly from the bypass laproscopic lol and i'm not about to go bounding around in a belly top at 31 lol.
Anywho, surgery is scheduled for February 2, 2017...GROUNDHOG DAY! that lil furry ******* better tell me that it will be a short winter at that point lol that would be icing on the proverbial cake lol.
Any tips on preparing for recovery?
the surgery itself? he says it is an outpatient procedure go in in the morning and home in the afternoon...I'm not sure if I shouldn't push for an overnight stay to be safe.
How long did you need someone's help at home after for initial recovery?
How hard are stairs the day of/after? I'm debating staying at my moms place with no stairs for a few days vs. going up the 1 initial flight of stairs to my walk up apartment.
Thanks in advance for all your assistance and input :)

Now more tt done as same day. Recommend high toilet seat Getting up and down is hard. Got suck a couple of times in bed lol. I slept in bed with lots of pillows. I did stairs in my home. You want t make sure you have someone with you for a few days. No lifting pulling or carrying. It is easy to want to to more but follow your ps orders. Don't get constipated. I was surprised how many muscles you use just to pee. The muscle works is what hurts the most. Wear your binder.
I also thought the toilet seat riser helped.
I stocked up on unscented maxi pads from the dollar store to use instead of gauze (much cheaper). I used them against the incision inside my binder as a cushion. I also cut a slit in them to wrap them around the drains to soak up any leakage.
Ready-to-drink shakes were also a must-have for me. I needed something easy to keep up my nutrition and my stomach muscles were pulled so tight solid food was impossible for me for about a week.

I had other plastics and I swear by the electric recliner. I had to sleep sitting up for a long time. Also, it stands you up and you just walk out. I got it on caigslist for $40 and steam cleaned it.

Did anyone need more than 1 binder garment? I'm concerned about the hygiene of only 1 binder...

- Recliner, bought used $150 and it stands you up
minimal stairs
we ordered rails that attach to toilet and also supported on floor ( out toilet is also a little higher than average as my husband is 6'3"
husband took two weeks off, I would say a min of 5-7 days help... the first days he helped me with every thing
i tidied and cleaned and cooked easy reheat meals/soups the week before surgery.
had 3 sets of comfortable (Big yoga pants, underwear and long sleeve t's)
i bought poise pads because last summer after a severe ankle leg fracture and surgery I couldn't always get to the bathroom at a good speed and the stop pee muscles go wonky.... and the thought of changing clothing Also bought the pads you can put on bed or chair in case of wounds leaking or drains etc.
