Hey everyone, I'm scheduled for Rhytidectomy (Facelift) surgery with Dr. Kathy Gohar in Beverly hIlls. I'm wondering if any one out there who had same procedure done with her could possibly share your experience. Some insight from anyone of her patient would be super helpful and reassuring.

I did not have surgery with your dr, but here is my experience.  Untreated pain was my biggest problem.

The brow lift (if you are having one) can be EXCRUTIATING.  I mean real AGONY - you may need real pain killers - not crappy little percosets - dilaudid for right after surgery - 4-5 days after surgery, the pain settles down.   Do not let the pain get out of control - my ********urgeon refused to treat the pain properly and 6 months later I am still very swollen - I sobbed for days and should have gone to the ER.  There is no neutral position where the pain from the browlift can be stopped.

If your dr is competent or refers you to a pain specialist - you should not have a problem.

For a mid and lower facelift - the pain comes from the muscles that have been  tightened.  The pain comes from trying to open your mouth to speak, eat or drink.. Even salivating causes pain.  But, if I sat still, the pain could be tolerated with meds.

Are you having your eyes done??  I needed an eye ointment - not just eye drops -for post op.  I felt like someone threw glass in my eyes.  I had bubbles under my cornea - not cornea as my dr corrected me - that is the part over your iris, I had bubbles under my conjunctiva - the white part of your eye - like as big as peas.  My surgery was a fuc&ing mess.

I say this not to scare you but so you  can have a more complete discussion with your surgeon and plan for the problems that can happen and not have your surgeon refuse to treat you and your not knowing what to do.

If you have your eyes done - I was blind for a week - no computer, no seeing TV - just sitting in a darkened room. I could not dial a phone. Here is what I looked like 4 DAYS after facelift surgery.  I had the 'full monty"  Brow, face, neck, upper and lower eyes.  I was more miserable than I look.  I would not have done the surgery, at least not with the ********urgeon, if I knew what was in store.
