Panni with Lipo

Has your surgeon worked with WLS patients extensively? There is sometimes a LOT of skin and very little fat. I lost 300 lbs and had tons and tons of skin....but there was no fat (at my lowest I was 8% body fat). SO they took off the skin, I needed a full lower body lift (they went all the way around).

I agree that you should ask about a tummy tuck. I can't imagine you'd get the results you want from just having panni (just removing the hanging skin).

Think of it this way....it's like if you were a size small and started putting on a 3XL shirt that hangs down to your knees -and you wanted it to fit so you decide to just trim the bottom of the front part without trying to tailor the rest. (It's not an exact analogy but close).

If your surgeon has done a lot of body contouring and he has good pictures, and he is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon (yes this is IMPORTANT)...then go with what he says.

I had gone to 3 different surgeons about my neck-everyone gave me different opinions-from using contouring threads, to a zig zag on my neck...but the Board Certified Plastic Surgeon said that it wasn't going to be enough. That i would need more work to get the results I wanted- it would mean cuts that extended down the front of my ear into my scalp. He pulled the skin a few different ways to show me why that was the only way that it would work (he did say the zig zag would give me results but that I'd have some creepy skin on my lower neck). Anyway- i had a good plastic surgeon and even wtih a LBL at 10 years out, I look and think i could use a revision. Not for medical necessity but just for cosmetic purposes.

Ho Scoot!!  Thanks so much for your input.  Yes my surgeon deals with mostly WLS patients and he specializes in body contouring.  I have seen his work .  He did my nieces panni and she looks wonderful...No TT and she delivered 3 children in pretty close time range.  Of course she is 20 yrs younger than myself!!  Lots to think about I will definitely ask him...worried about my belly button too.  not sure that is even addressed in the panni...I do not believe so.

Did you ask to see befores/afters of people who look like you? My surgeon did that.
