The legs are the hardest. It can take upto a year for things to settle. Seroma are quite common. I have had multiple skin procedures, contouring over the last few years. Hard to be patient waiting for results. As far as the weight gain try logging what you eat. I found that I craved carbs post op and they started to sneak in.

I'm 5 months out and yes still significant swelling.  The best explanation that I have found is: SWEAT!!!

The fluid that forms sweat comes from deeper down and then works its way to the surface.  When it encounters damaged tissue, it just hangs out there because it is easier to fill that space then force its way to the surface.  Instant swelling.  Opportunistic Swelling.

So - no exercising for me an I still wear compression garments (2.5 months post arm-lift and still 90%).  10 days post op, my things which had been lipoed blew up.  I was alarmed.  My saddlebag lipo only took 8 weeks. I only had the thigh lipo - you prob had lipo plus the skin removal - so I expect you recovery would be more complicated (and painful).  My thighs were black and purple and sitting was not fun.

My face, at 5.5 months is still very swollen.  All summer I tried to stay in air conditioning and not to sweat. I was miserable from the swelling which is now down except for my face.

I think some P surgeons outright lie about the expect recovery time and pain.  These people who are back at work in 2 weeks must do nothing more physical that lifting a telephone.

I swear by the compression garments.  Also, keep your protein at 100 grams.

The plastic surgery recovery has its own emotion challenges - at some time, even the most successful ps patients may have a bout of regret and depression.  If you are dealing with this, get help.

Your weight gain (are you saying 45 pounds since after surgery?)  You don;t say how far post WLS op you are - but time to check in with the old timers and get back on track.

I did one Lymphatic massage treatment with a person at a Plast Surgeon;s office and it helped - $225 a session, so I did not go back.  At least he helped me understand what was happening to my body and I was going to be OK, but it will take more time.

If your P surg was not a specialist with most-massive weight loss patients, I would see one who is.  Depending on your highest weight and how long you were at that weight (years or decades), our skin responds differently and that must be taken into account.
