compression garments vs none
I was in my bra/arm and abdominal garments for 3 months, then another month for abdominal and then nightly due to swelling for almost 2 yrs. I skipped a few nights, but to look good during the day, I wore it at night. I also felt protected with them on. I encountered no problems with my healing.

I had surgery with Dr. Capella Jan. 2016 and after 48 hours, took off the hospital compression, and went without from then on.
I didn't have a ton of swelling after the first few days, and felt comfortable in soft robes and cardigans, especially after the drains were removed. Of course I don't have the ability to compare my experience (scar healing and outcomes in general) if I had worn the garments, so it's all anecdotal. I guess I would feel most comfortable choosing a doctor whose recommendations I would want to follow. You want to feel trusting in his/her methods. Everyone's experience is so different! Good luck sorting it all out.
