My surgeon doesn't believe in compression garments.  I am almost 2 weeks out from LBL and he says in the "peak" of my swelling.  I find I am so much better in the morning.  I ice and make sure that I rest and dealing with swelling.

Did you find that compression garments helped you out with swelling and your contour?  I am just researching something from makemeheal.com

My surgeon doesn't use. Compression garments either except for abdominal binder

Thank you.  That is all I have.  I find the one night I didn't use it, because it was getting washed, my BB started hurting.

I used them and loved them.  I felt much more secure in the garments and felt that they helped control the swelling and protect the incisions.  For the LBL, I wore them longer than my doc required.  I used the Mirena garments - crotchless and both hook-and-eye and zip on the sides.  Didn't have to get out of it to use the toilet, but was easy to put on and take off.

I am wondering if they give you a better result?  Just weird.  Having been obese my whole life and I am 50 years old, am I being unrealistic about the body that I want to get?  Dr. removed all skin and no fat from me.  Didn't require any liposuction.  I just want to be flat and be comfortable in a bathing suit.  Still need to get my arms and breast done.  Today, I iced my stomach area.  There is so much swelling around the belly button and the abdomen I am wondering what it will look like when all the swelling subsides.  I am not even 2 weeks out so I think I should just calm down and focus on healing at this time.

Two weeks is about where swell hell STARTED for me.  And I was swollen for months at various levels.  Then only swollen in the evening.  It was closer to a year mark before I could say I really wasn't swelling at all.

I don't know that the compression garments help with shape.  I just felt better in them than out of them.

My swelling went down dramatically after week 3, that was the first time I could really look at myself. I wore compression for 6-8 weeks. I think it helps keep swelling down and you just feel better. A switched to a Spanx that went from underbust to mid thigh (with open crotch) after 2 weeks. The one the Doc gave me got too big when the swelling started to go down. It took a full three months for most of the swelling to go. I also had one of those velcro abdominal supports so I would switch into that at night. Wore compression 24hours a day.

You can get lymphatic massages too, that help with the swelling. I didn't get it after LBL, but did after my arms and breasts. Most relaxing massage I ever had. And does help.

Sorry for replying to such an old post - my massage therapist actually does lymph massage and it's on my list of things to ask Dr. Michaels about. How soon after plastics were you able to get massages?

I don't remember with the lymphatic massage- I want to say 3 weeks, but ask Dr M. We had talked about it after the first one, because my sister had mentioned it to me....but I never went... After the second one...I think he knew he had beat me up a little to get the job done...and he brought it up- Maybe you want to go for that lymphatic massage.... :) It was wonderful....went for a few sessions after the legs too...but with my extra drama there that wasn't until at least 2 months out...

Thanks! I've got it on my list of questions to ask at my appointment. I'm keeping a list so I don't send him daily emails and drive him crazy ;)
