Arm/shoulder tattoo and brachioplasty

Hello everyone!

I have my sights set on brachioplasty (at a minimum!). I need to get these wings cut off. If I could only choose one surgery, that would be it!

My question is... Im getting a new tattoo and I really want it on my upper arm/shoulder area. Im curious if I have brachioplasty after, will it affect the tattoo? Im thinking the skin isn't pulled too tight, just the excess, hanging skin is removed. Has anyone with a tattoo had this done?

Thanks!

Depends on how much skin is removed and how tight your skin is pulled.  I'd wait on the tattoo if you want to make sure it's placed where you want it post arm lift.

It would depend on where your incision is. It can be on the inside so with arms by side you don't see insions or it can run on back of arm so don't see it from front or when you lift arm. I would wait. Depending on how your scars mature you may want to incorporate into your design. My plastic surgeon asked for no tattoo for months pre and post op to decrease chance of infection.

My scars are on the inside so only see if lift up arms. Only hanging skin was removed

How soon are u thinking of having the brach?  Have you already had a surgical consult?  I would save my tattoo money and put in my PS fund and get the brach that much sooner.

I just had (ie today) my brach consult.  When I was measured, my arm after surgery will only be 9 inches in circumference.  If you will have such a major change, you might pick a different tattoo.

Wow. 9 inches is tiny!! I thought mine were small and they are 11 inches in circumference.

It sounded small to me, but I watched her.  She pulled the measuring tape taught - I hope the sleeves have some stretch in them and that swellling goes down before I have to put them on.

OK I am 8 weeks out... and never measured my arms. I just ran and got a tape measure 10" at widest part. I am a bigger person though, 5'11" tall.

That being said I have a tattoo at the very top of my upper left arm. It was not effected at all.

I am 8 weeks out and had to run and get a tape measure. My arms are 10" at the widest part. I am tall- 5'11"

I have a tattoo at the uppermost part of my left arm. 2.5" x 2.5" approximately. Was not effected by the surgery.

Thank you so much for the replies! I'll consider moving the tattoo somewhere else or modifying it a little. I cant wait to get these arms done!

Same thought exactly ... but mine is why get a tattoo at all ... sorry but I CRINGE when I see otherwise beautiful women who've defaced/deformed themselves with " body art " crossing the street- its like blue hair ... keep it on the internet keep it in clubs keep it  temporary- you see any models with tattoos ?

aren't tattoos expensive ?  why don't us use the money to pay for the batw3ing surgery you really want ?
