sore armpits after brachioplasty
I had a brachioplasty about 5 weeks ago and I'm healing amazingly well, except right in my armpits, the incisisons are red and irritated and I have some periodic discomfort. I've been using silicone scar gel for about a week and there are no parts of my incision that are open. I think it might just be irritation from clothes. I have ordered scar sheets but they are still in the mail. Other than being naked, do you have any tips or advice about caring for my delicate pits?
I am sorry to say, I have no advice :( I had the same issue - my surgeon called it the confluence of incisions. I was stretching too far and one of my armpits had a "separation" in that area. I never used scar sheets or anything. I am now 4 months post op and have zero problems...it just slowly goes back to normal. Hang in there :)
thanks, I realized that the compression sleeves were rubbing in that area. My surgeon told me I don't have to wear them anymore so that has settled things down but there is still irritation. I know you are right. it's the area that gets the most stretching for sure. Here's a question for you, how do you shave your armpits now? :)
BEST SIDE EFFECT EVER...I don't! My armpit hair follicles were all in the skin that was removed. Can I say lucky?! Do you still have hair follicles? My sweat glands were apparently removed too. I haven't had to shave or wear deodorant since my arm lift in October. Seriously. A definite highlight of my life.
Oh wow, that is awesome! Especially the shaving part...
