Less common indications for insurance abdominoplasty coverage

Hi everyone, I know insurers will occasionally cover an abdominoplasty with a documented history of treatment for rashes related to the adipose apron, but I'm curious if anyone has ever had any success getting insurance to cover it for other medical indications. Lately I've started experiencing pain in my abdomen when walking quickly, and especially when playing Dance Dance Revolution, my preferred form of exercise -- it feels just like working out without a bra, except the pain's in my abdomen instead of my boobs. I've tried a couple different types of compression garments that just make me sweaty and itchy (I can't find a true belly sports bra!). But I have no rashes or other skin issues. Has anyone ever gone a non-rash route to insurance coverage of an abdominoplasty? Cosmetically, my lower body is quite low on my "plastics priorities" list (arms are the only thing I really consider a must), but it might be moving up the list if this discomfort continues.

Many insurance policies will cover a panniculectomy - not a full abdominoplasty - when it's medically necessary.  Medically necessary usually means a history of skin breakdown, infections, and rashes.  You can always try, but I don't hold out much hope.

I asked my doc this afternoon for a suggestion on a breathable abdominal binder, and her only suggestion was to refer me to a plastic surgeon, so I guess I'll see what comes of the consult!

I went to a Doc's office that is covered under my insurance just to see what the story was. They told me the insurance would only cover about $1000 of the Docs fee for an abdominoplasty. When I heard that I decided I wasn't making my choice based on $1000. It would have saved some on the operating room and anesthesia... but still not enough to base my decision on it.

That being said, every insurance is different. I have Oxford/United Health Care.
