Recovery from Abdominoplasty with Fleur de Lis

Hi all,

I'm new to plastic surgery - this will be my first.  I lost 225 pounds and I have a lot of excess skin on my belly and I am going to have it removed.  The surgeon said my tummy muscles are tight so I shouldn't need the muscles tightened or stitched.  I'm hoping that will make it an easier recovery.

If you've had similar surgery, I'd love to hear how the recovery went for you.

best wishes,

Carol

HI Carol,

I just had a lower body lift and my muscles were very tight but he tightened them even more and I won't lie - it's been the most painful experience in my life!  I Hope you get some most positive answers :)

Good luck!

Yikes!  Thank you for your honest answer.  I hope its not too bad.  Expensive and painful?  What we will do for our appearances!  hehehe

best wishes

Carol

What she said.

VERY VERY painful.

Totally worth it though ;-)

I lost 271 lbs before my first TT (returned later for a LBL)  Anyway, I had the TT and then the Anchor Cut or Fleur de lis with the LBL.  Both times, the pain was minimal to none.  I also had massive lipo with a long thigh lift at the same time and that's where my pain was.  I honestly could rate my pain at about a 2 for slight discomfort.  My LapBand was more painful.

12/09 and 6/11, 9 skin removal procedures with Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico
Revised to the Sleeve after losing 271 lbs with the LapBand.

I consulted several plastic surgeons prior to finally having my tt done. I wouldn't have done it without the muscle tightening.

Its painful, you bet and even now, four months out, it hurts to sneeze and cough, but worth the results, totally!

The muscle repair causes most of the excruciating pain...not so much for just the incisions.  I'd question your doc on how your muscles could still be "tight" after carrying around 225 lbs of excess weight.  And I'd make him swear that he's sew them together if he gets in there and finds them separated.  Even with the pain, I'd be pissed if I came out of all that surgery and my muscles were lax.

I had an extended Fleur-de-Lis tummy tuck on March 10 (no muscle repair and no lipo)

The pain on days 2 and 3 was extremely intense but after day 4 it got better .
