LBL Revision and Vertical Thigh Lift

Hello everyone- I am contemplating a LBL revision along with a vertical thigh lift. I plan to be out 4-5 weeks from work. Does anyone have any revision stories or recoveries from combing a LBL with a vertical thigh lift?

I had a pretty tough recovery from the the first LBL. I had a LOT of excess skin from 200+ weigh loss and had some openings that took months to heal. This go around the surgeon states that it should be smoother with some more skin removal, lipo, and scar revision. Also will include a mons lift (she's still puffy and a little lopsided).

I would appreciate anyone's thoughts or experience? Getting jittery at this point.

I didn't have a revision but I am 6 weeks out from a lbl/ba/arms. I still get tired at the end of the day but have been back to work since day 17. With 4-5 weeks off you should be good too.  Congratulations on your surgery and best of luck.

I had a revision to my TT and plan to go back after 2 weeks, that is this Friday and I am ready to go back, but I have a desk job.

Mell,

Can you comment on your recovery. They swear it is easier to revise than the original. Thanks!

Hi Ann.  I had a revision of my lbl about 11 days ago.  Lipo on my flank/lower back area, scar revision, vertical cut.  The recovery so far has been night and day from the original to this one.  I was down and out with the first one.  I also had a bid weight loss (around 240) so they removed a lot of skin and had a lot of tightening to do the first time around.  This time was clean up of that surgery.  My incision areas are looking very good comparatively and the pain was about a 3 compared to a 10 the first time.  Not that it is a pure picnic, but it is much more tolerable.  I haven't been on pain pills for several days now whereas my first surgery I stayed on them for about a full two weeks.  I haven't had the thigh lift so I can't say how that one will be.  Good luck to you!

Terry,

I was hoping you would post. I read your post-op story before and was hoping I would hear from you. It seems we both had difficult recoveries and I am really anxious about this revision. I too expect some pain but I just don't want to go through that kind of recovery again.

I am very happy for you that this recovery has been smoother and I look forward to hearing about your progress!  How long before you felt "decent" knowing that we both went through heck the first time around? It took me 3 months to get back to normal...

Ann,

It took me about 3 or four months to get back to feeling a basic level of "good". By the fifth month I was really feeling very good. At about 7 months I was feeling pretty close to my pre-surgical self. Based on how I'm feeling this time, I'm hoping to be in pretty good shape by 3-4 months out given no more muscle tightening this round. I will have to spend some time losing a few lbs that came on because of lower activity and higher carbs too. Faster recovery will help me get back in the swing sooner. Swelling is not my friend. Good luck Ann.

That was pretty much the same course for me. I just had a really, really hard time. Swelling and I are not friends either. I plan to live in a compression garment this time. Thanks for the reassurance. I hope I have as smooth a recovery as you and that you continue to have a smooth recovery.

Just wanted to say that the revisions or 'redos' have been much more easy than the original surgery. That being said, recovery after plastics is a no joke. This was nothing like the original surgery but nothing to sneeze at either. The thigh lift has not giving me any problems so far. I try not to move much so I wont split my incisions.
