4th day out from surgery
Hi everyone, just wanted to fill you in on my surgery.
I had my panniculectomy, fdl tummy tuck and arms done on Monday. The surgery took about 3 hours and they removed 14 lbs. It was a rough start when I woke up, but am feeling better now. The worst part was getting up the first time. It's still painful to do that, but it's getting easier. I spent two nights in hospital, and came home yesterday. I only had one drain, and it came out before I left the hospital, so yay for me on that one. I asked my doctor about this, as so many people have their drains for so long. He said that they are now taking the time to sew things together better, so that the need for drains is shorter, which in turn is better for recovery. I'm okay with that! I get tired rather quickly. I haven't been very hungry. I haven't pooped. Hopefully THAT happens soon. Well, that about sums things up so far.
That's great to hear your doing so well. Where did you have your surgery? Any tips you could share? I am having my tt November 21st.
Annette 😄
I had my surgery in London. Be sure to advocate for yourself when it comes to getting your pain meds on time. Bring ear plugs, you will sleep much better. Have help lined up. You will need help getting your binder on. Rest. I am tired all the time. Make some meals ahead and freeze them. Bring a pillow to hold against your stomach as you walk, and to put between you and the seatbelt for the drive home.
Great tips, thank you. Yesterday I started making up freezer bags of foods ready for my crock pot. My husband, lord knows how much I love him, can boil water and make toast but that's it. He is amazing at housework though 😉
Sorry, got off topic there. Anyway, the preparing freezer meals ahead is a fantastic idea, thank you. I checked out Pinterest and found tons of crock pot freeze ahead ideas. I made four yesterday, cooked one of them for the family last night, yum!
Going to keep making things for the next two weeks so I have a freezer full of meals. I found I have a frozen tray of cabbage rolls and thought ahh no may not be the ideal post tummy tuck meal for me to have. 😁
One less thing to worry about during my recovery. I don't get to stay overnight at the hospital but I will make sure to bring a pillow for the ride home.
How are you doing?
Thanks again,
Annette 😄

Sounds like your recovery is proceeding smoothly. You may try over the counter stool softeners(Colase). That is very common because not moving as well as codeine tends to cause constipation as well as everything being tighter!
