How long did your incisions hurt?

So I am 2 months post op Fleur de Lis abdominoplasty, brachioplasty and mastopexy.

My brachioplasty incisions are still sore. If I run my finger along them it is still uncomfortable.

On the other hand my horizontal TT scar doesn't hurt at all.

I am trying to convince myself if is because my arms are in constant motion.

I also still have abdominal swelling and cannot go without my binder.

I just want to feel normal again!!!

For me it took probably around 6 months to feel mostly back up to par. Took about a full year to feel 100%.

Thanks Laura - I guess I didn't realize how long this recovery could take. It does make me feel better. I know you are happy you had the surgery so it gives me some light at the end of the tunnel! 

I never had any incisions hurt.  They were/are numb.  But the areas around the incisions - yeah, it will take months.  I am one month today from a breast lift, extended brachioplasty.  The breasts came back quickly, and are just a little sore.  The arms - above the incision, no pain; the incision itself, no pain; beneath the incision, swelling and hurting.  Go figure.  But what you're experiencing is normal, it's just that everyone's recovery is a little different.

I am 3 months almost 4 weeks out from arm lift and BA/BL.. my arm scars previously didn't hurt but are sore now... in some spots I feel like the nerves are coming alive and that's why I am feeling some pain... I am massaging at least twice a day trying to get them flat and have spots where they have "roped" so I am massaging those more aggressively which could be the cause of aggravation. Definitely a lot more work recovering from this procedure then from the previous PS I had of the extended TT... especially with all this scar massaging and I did have the BA so have all these boob exercises to do.

I am thinking for me it will be at least a good 3 more months to be more "normal"..... my right arm is WAY better than my left and I am right handed so not sure if that has something to do with it or what. My left arm scar is thicker, redder and more roping then the left.

I only had a full tummy tuck and the vertical incision hurts when pressure is places (aka I can't wear skinny jeans :( My horizontal incision doesn't hurt as much as it is irritated by any other material but cotton. There is one spot that feels like it's stretching and that hurts.

It most cases if the muscles are tightened with a TT, the tummy tends to hurt the most, especially when you cough. But, everyone is different but I think you are right for moving your arms definitely will cause you more discomfort,especially if the incisions are very tight. I would definitely use support in all areas and support for the scars like scarxtape to minimize them as much as possible. Drd

You can gently massage your scars several times a daily with a little lotion to help desensitize the scars and surrounding areas.  I used Gene's Vit E cream from Sams most of time.

Yes, it takes time to recover from brachioplasty surgery. Functioning of the arms and hands can take about a couple of weeks to become fully normal and up to several months for the scars to fade away. This surgery has a substantial recovery period. I would advise you to wear compression sleeves garments which would help minimize swelling, facilitate tightening of the skin, and reduce the chances of bleeding. You need to be calm and patient and scrupulously follow the instructions of the surgeon.
