Plastics before pregnancy?

Hi all.  I haven't posted on the plastics forum before, so I'm sorry if this has been covered to death, but for anyone who had WLS young enough that they weren't married with kids... did anyone get plastics done even though they knew they might have kids in the future?  If so, how badly, if at all, did that undo any of the work?  I'm only 28 and had WLS back in Feb.  I'm not even in a serious relationship, let along married.  While I don't know for sure if I'll ever have kids, it's definitely a possibility (though I'm a 1-2 kid kinda person, not looking to pop out like 5 of them, since I know more pregancies tends to cause more damage).  I know that the smart move would be to wait and have something like a tummy tuck or LBL done after I have kids.... but seeing as I don't know if or when that will happen, I'd kind of like to enjoy my body without all the excess stomach skin without having to wait years and years.  So really, I'm just hoping to hear from anyone who has been through it before.  I'm not at my goal yet, so I'm not exactly looking to do anything right this moment.  It's just something that comes to mind every so often, so I figured I'd go ahead and ask.

Secondardy question, for those who have done the pregnancy thing after plastics, was the tummy really the only area of concern?  Did anyone have problems with thighs or arms, etc?  If it really wasn't a good idea to do tummy plastics before pregnancy, I've thought that I could at least get my arms done, and if I really hate them, my thighs.

Pregnancy definitely does affect results after face and body contouring but to a variable degree and more the breasts than most anything else. I advise my patients that if they plan on having children within a year or two then wait, if not, I agree with you that you want to get your body back ASAP!

I just had plastics but I am done having kids... I would say that yes - you will mess up your flat tummy and possibly breast work with a pregnancy, but if you have a ton of gross skin and have the money - go for it. You will be so much happier with the skin gone!  You can always do it again ;-)

My best friend had 2 children prior to her RNY in 2004.  She had a full TT and breast reduction and thigh lippo in 2005 (she was 34 at the time).  Fast forward - she had another child post WLS and Plastics in 2011 at the age of 40 and then twins this summer at 43.  She has maintained her original WL of 90lbs and while her belly isn't 100% flat like it was post TT is a far cry from needing a revision.  She was thrilled with her pregnancies and felt that the TT helped her carry them easier.  Just an FYI - that may not be typical in any way, but it is her story and she'd say get the plastics done and enjoy yourself and your body.  Who knows what is next?

My surgeon, Dr. LoMonaco, has addressed this post in this forum before. He said he does not pull the muscles quite as tight for his patients who may go on to give birth later. He understand that the skin can have a negative effect mentally and does not think people such as yourself should wait to have plastics.

This was my concern too except I'm 33. I'm ready for the skin to be gone, but may have children one day. But I'm not in a relationship and don't even know if I can have kids due to my PCOS and low egg count (I know it's possible, but lower probability). So is hate to wait to have the surgery to find out I can't get pregnant and could have had it.

One doc I had a consultation with said that having it before can even help some with the pregnancy and that if you don't over eat, you can maintain most of the results from the surgery.

Im looking at a breast augmentation as well and know that's the area that could really get destroyed lol. But I also think that's the easier area to fix afterward as well.

Well, it's in the genes.. We can't tell for sure how the baby is going to look like and especially since genes don't change with plastic surgery.

What the hell are you talking about?!?

Why are you digging up a bunch of posts that are over a year old and commenting on them? Chances are, the people aren't even here on this forum any more.
