How long did you wait till after plastic surgery to weigh yourself..

I know there are many months of swelling.

I'm almost at 3 months out from my LBL.

Scared to weigh..Hate to see my number if I'm higher then when I went in to surgery.

I know it's probably just swelling..

thanks!

I weighed myself every day. Immediately post-op I was about 5 pounds heavier but I quickly lose that and was about 10 pounds down by the end of month one. I ate a lot to keep from losing more (I look way too old in the face when I get any thinner). I was eating 3000 calories a day until the 3 month mark when my regular metabolism kicked back in and I started to gain. I had to cut back to my usual number of calories then

Sorry to hijack the thread but I'm sure others would like to hear the answer as well.

What do you mean your metabolism was higher after surgery? Is that normal? I've been eating my normal 1200-1600 calories but normally on the low end because I haven't been exercising. Just curious as I don't remember hearing about this before.

For many of us after surgery, our metabolism seems to go into overdrive to help with healing. Others have posted about it here, too. I was also worried about regain due to not exercising, but that did not happen while I was recovering.

I'm not sure it's accurate to say your metabolism increases; however, it does make sense that your body would need additional calories to heal after surgery.  If you don't eat additional calories that deficit will be pulled from fat and you'll lose weight.

I weighed myself the morning of surgery and two days afterwards. I did that because they removed 8.8 pounds of skin, tissue, fat, etc and to be honest I was so swollen I didn't believe they had taken off that much mass. I am two weeks out and am down exactly 8.8 pounds from the weight I was the day of surgery.

Now with that said none of my pants fit so I'm stuck wearing yoga pants or dresses (for when I go back to work).

I have been taking pictures weekly and every time I feel swollen I look at the pictures to remind myself what I looked like before.

I weigh myself everyday.  I am up about 3 pds. but my legs are very swollen.  I am 11 weeks out from lbl, 8 weeks out from arm and breast lift and implants and 5 weeks out from thigh lift.  I have consume extra protein but have not added any calories................because I know my body and I would gain weight.

In the period right after your surgery, you can expect to be heavier with the fluid gain. You should then become lighter by the weight of the tissue your plastic surgeon and liposuctioned fat was removed by about the third month. If you are still heavier, then you may be gaining weight!
