I  live on the Texas/Mexico border (a rock throw at any given moment of my day) and I work with many people here in the US who where born in Mexico and travel there at least weekly but they won't have major medical treatments done there!  They speak perfect Spanish and are in healthcare in the US!  That speaks volumes to me!

I think it really depends on doctors. I had my plastics in Switzerland. Recently I was in the US and went to see a plastic surgeon there who had no problem at all with seeing me and eventually following up if I so desire down the road. I also know of at least one Canadian who went to Mexico and then had issues (one of her incisions opened up) that needed follow up afterwards in Canada and also had no trouble at all seeing a doctor there. We live in a very mobile world and it is unrealistic to think that we will confine all of our medical treatment including surgery to just one country. What if you were to have your plastics in Canada and then for family or work reasons you move to another country? Does that mean you would not ever be able to have follow up elsewhere? I have moved around the world for my job for 25 years now and I was able to get medical treatment and follow up with no problems at all anywhere.
