two months after lbl

Hi everyone.  Just a quick update. The good: I'm out of my binder and body suit. Now down to 32 pants so 2 inches less than before. I was back to vigerous exercise this weekend and had a pretty good session of deep water aerobics. Not as good: my belly button has been slow to heal. My ps thinks I would benefit from a revision this fall/winter. So I need to think that through. I'm pretty happy with the result so far so I have mixed emotions. Anybody else get a "skin only" revision under general afterwards?  How did the recovery compare to the full lbl?

Terry, is your PS encouraging a full 360 revision of the skin or just in a certain area? Glad to hear you got back in the water!

Hey Gina. Just the front this time without muscle tightening. I didn't get an anchor cut the first time so this would be a vertical cut and some lipo.

Terry,  I had the vertical cut with my lbl plus muscle tightening (3 weeks ago)  the jury is kind of out if it was worth it.

I'm definatly in the worth it for what I got camp but it took me a bit to get there Chris. Now the question is whether this 52 year old dude needs the touch up of tightening the skin side to side. I have a few months to think about it. Hang in there man.

I did not get the anchor cut tummy tuck because I did not want the vertical scar (and a good thing, too, because my scars are dark but at least they are hidden by clothes). As well, my PS does not do the anchor cut. I later had the TT converted to an LBL because I wanted my entire body lifted. So I did have a skin only revision to the front of my body. I walked hunched over for weeks with just a little of the skin being removed (no muscle tightening) but I did not have any pain aside from muscle spasms the first two nights. It absolutely gave me greater improvement. However, there is excess on my back that could be corrected with a vertical torsoplasty and I just do not think the scars are worth it (think an archer cut on both sides of your body).

That was my experience. I hope it is helpful to you.

Thanks MBL.  I have some fullness above my belly button and some puffiness below my surgical line right in front.  So this would pull in my waist a bit and eliminate some bumpy bits.  It would probably look better but I had a pretty hard time to begin with so I have second thoughts.  I'm sure the memory will fade over time.  Your pain with the skin only thing sounds like something I could probably take though.... so much to think about with this phase.

Terry, I am right there with you. It is a big decision to know whether to revise or not. Even healthcare professionals differ in there opinions on the safety and results of revisionary surgery. If it is helpful to you, you can post the question to plastic surgeons on realself. Good luck!

I can see why you're hesitant, especially since you're happy with your results. It also sounds a lot less invasive, so recovery is probably much shorter and less traumatic. Fortunately, you have plenty of time to sleep on it. Sending healing vibes to your belly button (and mine, too).

I had a skin only in office procedure 6 months after my anchor, I had an opening that caused a puckering and on one side there was some gathering. Super easy, the shots hurt to numb the area but after that it was good. I will say I was glad my husband joined me, between him, the doctor and myself we kind of kept a conversation going that keep my mind from getting too crazy during the procedure. It did not hurt, but you can feel tugging, hear nasty noises from cutting (he cut out some scar tissue) and feel the cold blood running down my side. So the conversation keep my mind solid, recover is easy I just took it easy for a few weeks.  Good luck
