Are prices in Mexico drastically different?  The prices I saw are not and I wanted to get others opinions! Maybe the prices in Mexico include everything as far as pain meds, the stay and travel? Info would be wonderful!!

I've had plastic surgery in Mexico twice now, and what I have found when going to consults with Doctors both in the US and Mexico, that sometimes the surgeon fees are similar, but where the biggest cost difference in the states, was in the hospital fees that the doctor has no control over.  Some times when dealing with PS's in Mexico the price seems too good to be true and it sure was my first time going to Mexico last year. I went to a beautiful Center all white marble and glass, very fancy but, it felt like I was constantly handing over my credit card.  There were day of surgery labs, EKG's, Anesthesia, pain meds, garments, implants,...not even including recovery it was about $3,000 in extras...So make sure you ask up front what other costs are involved.   This time, (5 weeks ago) I found a new surgeon who I saw his work and wanted to have him do my surgery, who just so happened to also be in Tijuana Mexico, this time I checked and everything was included so no hidden fees.  Now his prices were a little higher than others, but it was all upfront.  I would have used him no matter where he was located due to his incredible work.  Not only is he a Board Certified Plastic but also a Micro-Surgeon, so his incisions and sewing is flawless. This was a very important matter for me, when thinking of having a lower body lift, with all the cutting, it had to be the best possible.  When using this Surgeon, you are picked up from the San Diego Airport and driven to the Center which is only 5 mins south of the border. I only needed to stay a week, since all of his stiches are internal, with tape on the outside, so I was able to leave after only one week.  Also I only live 5 hours away, so I was just able to go there last week for a follow up, which is not necessary but nice if you are somewhat close by. You can look and my profile and see my pictures and my review there for my surgeon if you are interested. Last week when I went, I brought two other ladies with me who also signed up for surgery....

We have a pretty active group here on OH that have gone to Dr Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico.  It's an all-inclusive price for surgery, clinic time, hotel etc.  You can click on Dr Sauceda in my siggy line and it'll take you to the group.  Several people have posted about their surgery and trip.  There are photos too.

there is one surgery - Dr Q in TJ who does not always do good work. I have seen in person his results and they can be horrifying. Also when the **** hits the fan, he's not prepared. Research all of your options!!! There are excellent ones and there are ones that are not!!! I went with Dr Sauceda, I have been three times to his OR and the money I saved was just incredible. It cost 1/3 the price I was quoted in the US. All inclusive, you only pay for your food once you get to the hotel. Everything is covered including your flight up to $600 if your surgery is more than $7K. Nine procedures here and returning for 5 more. His experience with WLS patients is outstanding.

Most of the time the cost of plastic surgery in Tijuana, Mexico is going to be very reasonable and competitive, because many plastic surgeons charge about the same give or take 1- 4 thousand dollars. (I could be wrong, but that is just from my own personal research when I was shopping around depending on the procedure and any medical problems). After I found this information out, cost was not such a big deal. I focused on finding the Best plastic surgeon in the Tijuana, because my results were more important than saving a few thousand dollars. My advice is to search for the best plastic surgeon with the best consistent results. My choice was Dr Victor Gutierrez. I have gone twice.  AMAZING RealSelf 5 star reviews!!

Thanks for the Dr Q (CosMed) warning.  I think it should be a mandatory requirement to post that warning with each Mexico plastic surgery inquiry. (Ripoff Report)

I didn't want to name names, but that was the clinic I went too for my first surgery (Dr. Q.).  I do not recommend that clinic at all.  This last time I went I went to Dr Victor Gutierrez and he is a outstanding surgeon also with many WLS patients as his clients...

my issue with Dr Q was how he handled emergencies. My friend and her sister went. Her sister coded and almost died. They were completely unprepared thus she has permanent damage. It's not good.
