Leaky belly button after abdominoplasty

Anyone have oozing from the belly button after tummy tuck? I noticed mine had some reddish brown streaks coming out when I got dressed this morning. Fortunately I saw the doc today for my 2-week post-op visit. He prescribed bactroban 2x daily for the next couple weeks with a gauze pad taped over. He wasn't overly concerned; I guess this is a fairly common thing. I'm not overly worried either, but am taking it as a sign that I've been doing a little too much. I'm feeling SO much better, although still tight through the abdomen and moving a lot slower than usual. This is part of the healing and much as I want to be up and at 'em, I do NOT want to do too much too soon and end up with more complications. Just wondering if anyone else has had this.

I'm glad that if it happened to you it was at a time when you were seeing your PS so soon to when you noticed it!
It is within the realm of normal minor complications and now you have been given a plan for treatment.
If you get more concerned, take a selfie and email your PS.
Each of us heal differently but also each PS may give different treatment plan for the same problem.

Thank you Mikimi. I always like reading your posts--very informative and supportive. It WAS good that I was seeing my PS today. Now I don't see him for another month, but the entire office has been very supportive and have given me email addresses and phone numbers to call if I have any questions, so I feel very "taken care of" with them. I've had many surgeries over the years and this doctor is the only one who ever sent flowers...a single red rose with a wish for easy healing signed by the PS. I cannot say enough good things about this man and look forward to having him complete my PS "makeover" which will include breast reduction/mammpolasty with brachioplasty, and then later something for the fat pads on the back side of my hips. That stuff just doesn't want to go away, lol. There is a bit on my upper thighs that I don't like, but it's not bad enough that I want to do plastics for it. I am still amazed at the transformation in my abdomen...he showed me my "before" pics today and the difference is just...well, there are no words to describe what I had vs. what I have, even with swelling. It's absolutely amazing. I did not take any pics myself so I suppose I should ask them to send me copies. My "before" is one of the worst I've seen in any online before/after pics so I feel like I SHOULD share for anyone contemplating this surgery. Here's to no more setbacks and full healing! :)

You could have a small seroma and it is better that it drains rather than accumulates. Make sure you are wearing the binder and that it is snug.
