Consultation with Dr. Capella

Hi All -

I have a scheduled consultation with Dr. Capella on June 18th.  I know there are a bunch of people who have used him. Can you tell me what to expect?  I really would like a lower body lift and inner thigh lift. It's my understanding that these would be done as separate surgeries.  Am I correct?   Also.. are there suggestions on what I should ask?  I am also nervous about the pricing.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I didn't use him in the end as I stayed home in Switzerland but when I corresponded with him he was very nice. I think you can do it all at once. The only thing that really hurt (and that is relative really!) was the stomach muscle tightening. I am sitting here now post breast lift and inner thigh lift and no pain at all really. As in no pain meds at all. I had the surgeries this morning. Capella quoted me in the area of 18K for breast lift and LBL. I didn't get a thigh quote from him. Good luck!!!!! So worth it! It changed my life all over again, just like the VSG did.

That's awesome, Julia!   So happy for you!

I really do think it's so important to complete the journey with getting the skin issues taken care of!  I would also want a breast lift, but it's low on the priority list!

I met with Dr. Capella on May 7th for my first consult....what a great doctor!  He was super nice, made me feel very comfortable, was extremely knowledgeable & answered about 20 of my questions!  I am getting an arm lift, breast lift, & LBL...all at the same time in an anticipated 6 hr surgery.  The price quoted was just under $20k & I thought that was a really good price.  I have already given my deposit & have it set-up for my surgery to be scheduled on Dec 11, 2014.

As for the questions, I googled 'questions to ask a plastic surgeon'....I know, kinda 'cheesy', but I had only a few I could think of & needed to see if I was missing anything important.  The only thing that I found a bit unnerving was that he does not recommend using a binder.  You can ask him about that.  He told me that in his experience the binder did not allow for enough circulation & may inhibit healing time.  I have read enough on this forum to know that most other surgeons do have their patients wear them...as it does help with swelling & keeps the area 'secure'.  IDK...we'll have to see how that goes!

When were planning to have your surgery?  Do you live in NJ?  I live in Cape May...so about 2 hours to get there!  Good luck to you!

Yeah that is true, he told me the same thing about the binder. My surgeon here swears by it and I didn't find that it inhibited healing at all. But of course I have no point of comparison. It certainly did make me feel secure like I wasn't going to come apart at the seams! Literally!

Thank you so much! This was really helpful!

I am not really sure when I would have the surgery. I need to talk to him about pregnancy after lower body lift.  I would like to get pregnant in about a year and a half and want to know if that is realistic getting a lower body lift. I have read that it is, but I am not sure.

That is interesting about the binder... something to think about.

I live in NYC so he is about 40 mins away from me. I LOVE Cape May.  My niece is in the Coast Guard so I was there for her graduation!

Hey there!

I had a consultation with him last month. What to expect? To fall in love with him! LOL I kid.... but he really was a kind, patient, and encouraging man. Clearly he does amazing work as well, I will definitely be booking with him soon - I have another consult with someone closer to home tomorrow (just for a second opinion). I couldn't be more excited!

He quoted me $19,900 for a LBL, Breast Lift, and Extended Arm Lift. I talked to him about pregnancy because I don't have kids yet either. He said there should be no problems with having a baby afterwards... if you gain an appropriate amount of weight, your results would still be great - it all depends on how well you take care of yourself during pregnancy.

He told me that he does not do thighs and LBL together because you're pulling skin in competing directions. He told me that after a LBL I might not need/want the inner thighs done either.... sam with the breast augmentation - I might not want/need it. We'll have to wait and see!

SO excited for you! He really is great!

That's awesome that you loved him! The prices you guys are saying sound like what I thought!  When so you think you'll get yours done?

Did he say how long you should wait after LBL before pregnancy? This concerns me as I eill be 37 next week and want to have a baby in about a year.

Actually... funny you should ask because as of this afternoon, I know EXACTLY when I'll get my done - I have a date of September 25th WOOOHOOO! I'm so excited!!

I have asked 3 different plastic surgeons the question about how long to wait after pregnancy and all three have said 1 year. Let 1 year pass and then start trying! I completely understand that question... timing is critical when your brain is starting to consider babies! lol

Awesome! Maybe we will get done around the same time!  I think I can commit to waiting a year.. which means I would want the plastics done ASAP!

SO EXCITING/SCARIER THAN VSG!
