Extended abdominoplasty tomorrow with hernia and diastasis recti repair...
I've had two c-sections, and 2 prior open abdominal surgeries. So I know this will be no picnic. Why I am blanking on what to pack for a 1-2 night hospital stay is beyond me. For now, I'm off to do laundry, a bit of cleaning, and grilling a week's worth (I hope!!!) of meat for the family. Then it will be time to drink the magnesium citrate and spend the evening running to the bathroom. Oh, how fun! Not. I forgot to ask for atavan with my other scripts so may just add a glass or two of wine to my Memorial Day cheeseburger (without the bun, cuz the burger will enough of this little stomach, lol.) And then I have to shower with al soap (which I hate) and deal with my younger son having hissy fits over his new computer, which is a different model than his last one (oh, he has to deal with pushing an Fn button plus the number keys rather than having the Fkeys part of the keyboard--wah, wah, wah!!!!). If I had all the money in the world, I'd buy my kids the gaming computers they really want. But I don't, so I can't. The older child understands but the younger one doesn't. Not yet, anyway. Ugh.
Sorry...I'm nervous and just blurting out whatever is on my mind. Ignore me if you wish, lol. oxxooxox!
Thinking positive thoughts for everyone with surgery coming up!
I wish my surgeon had required the magnesium citrate thing. I got to eat up until midnight and did. Than I ended up staying 4 days in the hospital and 6 days after surgery tore thing lose due to impacted BM.
I didn't have anything for my stay but my robe and kindle with head phones and my cell phone. They supplied everything else.
Good luck and best wishes for your surgery and recovery.
Oh man...that stinks! I hope you're okay now! I'm wishing he'd done something more fast-acting than the mag citrate. I drank it at 6pm based on his instructions. It's now 4am and I just woke up...I think I may now be up for the duration because I've tried going back to bed three times but have to keep getting up, lol.
Don't know who your surgeon is, but bowel pres of any sort are generally not recommended for this type of surgery anymore. It doesn't lower the infection rate while greatly increasing electrolyte abnormalities and preoperative dehydration.

Just fasting from midnight. And I had no major issue with toileting after; meaning I franks lots of liquids (no stool softeners) and when I went to toilet I sat and took my time.
Pain meds can/might cause constipation.
