Question about placement of brachioplasty scars
Hi everyone,
I'm one week away from an extended abdominplasty with hernia and diastasis recti repair. I'm nervous enough that it's ridiculous. So rather than obsess on that, I'm thinking of my next plastic surgery (breast reduction, which is the ONLY surgery I've ever truly wanted) with brachioplasty (aiming for some time next year). My surgeon gives his patients the option of where to place the scars--along the inner arm, or along the back of the arm. I am somewhat partial to the inner arm option, because if I am able to get to where I can wear sleeveless shirts comfortably, I don't want a scar showing. I lift weights but don't necessarily care if the people in the class I take see the scar in the future.
If you've had brachioplasty, I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on the placement of the scar--inner arm where you can see if you're doing a chest press type of exercise vs. back of the arm where it's not necessarily visible during a chest press, but is visible if you're just wearing a tank top type of shirt.
Thanks!
Meri
I prefer them in the middle of the inner arm (which is where mine are). The ones along the back are visible from behind 100% of the time.

Mine are on the inner arm too they go to the elbow area. Its nice that you are given the choice tho. The scars get less noticeable every month and it gets harder to see them. Im three month's and a half and id say unless I really really point them out most people would not even notice them which is good for me and really unless people who know what ive been through its none of their business where or how scars got there. They are there from hard work, determination and well a good chunk of cash lol hope that helps you have a great day congrats on your upcoming surgery xoxo
Oh, your post is making me anxious. My arm scars are dark and I am 7-mos post op. I know it can take a year to 18-mos but I have had so many issues with my arms that it scares me that my dark scars are jus tone more issue that I will have. Now reading that yours are so light after 3.5-mos makes me even more concerned for myself.
My incisions are where the seam of a tailored shirt would be. I prefer this to the back of the arm where they can be seen all of the time. I am pretty self conscious about my scars so I'd likely never wear short sleeves if the scars were exposed. I work out, too, and I am covering my arms with long sleeves until the scars are lighter.
