Silicone tape
Can some one tell me when and how and when to use Silicone tape for a medial thigh lift? My surgeon doesn't believe it helps but, you guys have convinced me it does. Did your surgeons apply it at surgery or after and if so how long? Is this something that stays on for a while or does it need to be removed/replace and how often.
Thank for any insight.
Editing to ask if you wear this when taking a shower or do you remove it and reapply after dry?
You buy it yourself. You apply it yourself after incisions are closed. Cheapest one i have found is Mepitac tape $20 per roll. You can reuse it 3-7 times - wash, hang dry, reapply. You will know when it will no longer "work" as it will no longer stick to you. I have been doing silicone since 10 days after surgery and so i totally believe in it, and can tell the difference in the texture of the scars when i do not use it (they get stiffer).

That is great info on the Mepitac silicone tape. I just now ordered some from Amazon. 1.5" x 59" for 19.25 plus free shipping if you're a Prime member. Thank you for the head's up.
There are several great reviews of it on Amazon, too, plus you can also get a smaller width/longer length tape for about the same amount. Best price I've seen on silicone tape!
Here's the link if anyone is interested:

Another question. Do you guys leave it on to shower or remove it and reapply after? I sure wi**** had come with instructions.
Big fan of Mepi-tac as pointed to above. Very economical way to apply silicone taping to the wound. We usually start that the 2nd week post op for a few weeks. One of those 60 inch rolls will last a long time for most people.
Would also like to point people to something else that is a really nice and cheap scar treatment. Je Veux is a silicone based oil product that's normally for hair. It has a silicone base and a number of moisturizing agents (Argan oil, Neem Oil) that have been used for skin care and burns for about 10,000 years (literally) in the middle east. It essentially replicates the kind of very expensive scar creams (a silicone base + some topical anitoxidant/moisturizers) we used to refer patients to at a about 1/3 to 1.4 the price. It feels really nice and smells fantastic too. I use it on my hands. You can buy a large bottle of the stuff for $20 on Amazon. An extraordinarily useful product at that price
