I just googled abdominoplasty necrosis as you suggested and rest assured I'm STUNNED and got the message loud and clear. Thank you for opening my eyes!

Well I am glad if it helps you quit. Not all necrosis comes from smoking, but nicotine use is one of the highest risk factors. Happy healing !

I strongly recommend that smoking be stopped at least two weeks before and after any surgical procedure. Nicotine damages the blood vessels and hurts recovery and waking up from anesthesia. I do operate on smokers and I totally empathize with the difficulties of quitting, but I do warn them that I may not be able to remove as much tissue as I would like and make it as tight as I could and that compromise of the tissue may occur. If I see that after surgery, I will often do hyperbaric oxygen treatments. As you plastic surgeon for some sedatives to help you quit or at least decrease.

Thank-you for your reply Dr. DOmanskis. My surgery date is scheduled this coming May10th and I'm trying like hell. The best I can muster is 2 days then i break. I still have some time ahead of me and will continue to try. Thank-you for your honest reply.
