A Residency Program is where a doctor who is becoming a surgeon does his 'residency' at a hospital, performing surgeries in order to gain experience. It is the final leg of becoming a doctor/surgeon. This program would offer the surgery for free or minimal charge as it is being performed by a resident (student doctor)
Thank you, I knew what the program was, my brother in law is an anesthesiologist. I wasn't sure what you were trying to ask. 😉 now I get it lol.
I have not heard of these in Canada, but you never know. Maybe calling hospitals to see if they have a program available?
Contacting the college of physicians and surgeons may be a good place for help? http://www.royalcollege.ca/portal/page/portal/rc/public
Best of luck. 👍

Have you researched if the OHIP covers plastic surgery following excessive weight loss. I know that here in Quebec it is covered, however the plastic surgeon has to send in a letter to the RAMQ with photos stating that surgery or surgeries are necessary for medical reasons. Several individuals that I know that have had WLS have been approved for various surgeries. If this is similar in Ontario, you will have to find a plastic surgeon that does these procedures under the public system and not just in their private practice. Hope this helps....

Thanks for the input, but I am aware of the covered plastic surgeries. My loose skin won't be severe enough to qualify so I am looking for cosmetic plastic surgery options and a residency program would certainly be cheaper!
