Questions about TT recovery

I am 8 years post RNY. My insurance has finally approved a TT. I will also be getting a pubic revision. I am looking for post op tips but mainly recommendations regarding underwear and drain tube positioning.

The tubing came out right at my underwear line so I did not wear any for a while I just rocked sundresses all day and night! I went to Walmart and bought some inexpensive ones, and wore flip flops. It fit since I had mine in the summer.

Gradually I bought some super high waited panties that were bigger than I needed and used them to hold the tubing in place but they sat above the drains. And yoga pants for months! Good luck, super excited for you!!

Read all the posts in the forum, the thing that took me by surprise was the depression you get after and regret and pain I thought I fully understood but I had no idea!! Keep up on the meds, set a timer!

I had 2 TT drainage tubes, both were in my Mons Pubis. I wore Dr. Prescribed compression garments with a wide / open crotch that allowed the drainage tubes to emit from underneath the garment. I'm wearing garments from the "Marena Group", which I think are very nicely made. All garments are uncomfortable. Most Plastics MD recommend either a torso compression garment, or an abdominal binder. If your's recommend a binder, and you have mons drains, you can just go and purchase some crotchless or snapable undies. Good Luck!

In addition to oral pain meds, I had a pain pump.  It automatically released pain meds into the abdominal area.  Ask your doctor about it.  I wore an abdominal binder the first few weeks and then panties with a support panel in the front for another four weeks.  Try and walk everyday. It helps keep your body functioning.  Be sure to ask your surgeon about stool softeners.  Being constipated from taking pain meds is the last thing you want to happen.  Good luck - you'll be happy you did it.
