I'm 3 and half weeks out from a lower body lift. On my right hip, a seroma developed pretty quickly. I've had it aspirated once and it has drained LOTS on it's on the past 2 Sundays. I can clearly see a stitch in the small opening where the draining is occurring. I tried to yank it out with tweezers (after I cleaned them of course) & it's not moving. I have increased Vitamin C, Bromelain and Arnica to assist with healing. I live 3 hours away from my surgeon. We leave for Puerto Rico and then a 7 day cruise in 18 days....any suggestions on how to help this thing heal & close-up so I can enjoy the beach! Anyone??? HELP!?!?

Truth is, you really need it to drain for as long as there's anything to drain.  If the outer skin closes up too soon, you're likely to develop another seroma.  Unfortunately, our bodies will heal on their own schedule, not ours.  Although I think you have a good chance of being beach-ready in 3 weeks, I don't think there's much more you can do about it.

Do you think the stitches are irritating/causing the drainage?  Take a picture of it and email it to your doc and see what he says.  Those stitches are dissolvable, but they take weeks/months to fully reabsorb.  Maybe your PCP can snip it out and save you the 3 hour trip.

Thank you for your reply. I contacted my PS and she stated I go could to my local GP. She said it would be good to get the stitch out...hopefully that will help. Waiting for a call back.
