Has anyone had significant complications from surgery?

That first hospital is filled with incompetent idjets, in my opinion. They should have done a complete blood count to check hemoglobin and hematocrit levels, platelets, and also done a coagulation study. IT'S NOT HARD!!! Instead they poo-pooed your concerns and slapped what was essentially a bandaid (some volume infusers to get your BP up) on a clot and hemorrhage problem! Thank God you're doing okay, Kevin. I would investigate litigation against the first hospital, seriously.

They did draw blood and got hmg levels (not sure about anything else) and at the time it was still above 10, though after surgery it was over 17, so it was definitely dropping. I believe it was in the 5's either when I got to the other hospital or just before the 2nd surgery. I may look into something in regards to the first hospital. I'm glad my mom didn't listen to my requests to just let me try and rest a few minutes to gain some strength. She says she waited in the car with me for nearly 2 hours, but to me it seemed like maybe 15 minutes.

after reading your post i dont feel quite so bad about my complications although they are are still pretty bad to me. i had my panniculectomy almost 3 years ago and have suffered from excrutiating abdominal pain ever since and i still have swelling by the end of the day. i am on fentanyl which is the strongest pain med they make at 50 mcg per hour and i still go to bed in tears every night.i am glad that you are now doing better.

I am so sorry to hear this. Has anyone figured out why you are in so much pain?

I think I would gladly take my situation over yours any day.  I am just over a month out now, and have very little pain most of the time.  Sleeping is still a struggle as the swelling does get worse at night and I cannot seem to get comfortable, but it's definitely not bad enough that I am in tears.  That sounds pretty awful, and I'm sorry you have had so much difficulty following your surgery.  Do they have any idea on why you are having such bad problems?
