Plastic Surgery Questions

Hi everyone! So, I am about 2-3 pounds away from the target I set for myself to get a plastic surgery consult - 140 pounds. I really want to get my breasts re-done because they are so deflated now! I am 25! I shouldn't have deflated boobs! lol!! I was also thinking about a TT or maybe even a LBL or just getting my thighs done. I have a lot of extra skin and I don't know if it will tighten up over time or not.

What did you have done? Are you happy with the results? How was the recovery? Around how much did you pay??

Sorry for all of the questions, I'm just curious... and want to plan.

I am in the same boat!  I'm 26 and lost 126lbs. (ahem dealing with a 6lb. bounce back) and am 158ish now.

I am having a tummy tuck and breast aug on December 17--just a short two weeks away!  Plenty nervous, though.

I went to 4 consults.  I think multiple consults is a good thing.  I never had boobs (like, seriously, the only 277lb. lady looking for an "A" bra), and while one surgeon seemed to think that would limit me "can't put big breasts in small women), the others saw no problem.  If you have tissue/deflating, this should be no trouble for you.  I still think I couldn't go too big, but the surgeon I decided on thought that, while I didn't have bigger boobs at bigger sizes, my skin had stretched enough from just being overweight to accommodate implants.  I'm doing silicone under.  This I have gone back and forth on because I'm just small boobed and have wondered if I want to stay that way.

As to the tummy tuck, all were amazed that my stomach looked as good as it did after losing so much weight, but were very confident that I would do well with surgery.  One surgeon said that with WLS patients as opposed to "mommy makeovers" he liked to get us tight as a drum because the skin is a bit like a stretched out rubber band and will lose some elasticity after surgery and will never be as tight as our pregnancy-weight counterparts.  At first my surgeon was hesitant about performing a TT on a childless woman who may have children in the future, but eventuallly she realized that I stood to gain a lot from having my tummy skin removed now and concluded that even if I should get pregnant later, my stomach would never look as it does now unless I have quadruplets!  (she said it as nicely as she could)  There also seemed to be some debate about whether to tighten the stomach muscles on someone who has not had a baby, but for me the majority decided that they were already in there and that there would have been some muscle stretching incidental to weight gain.  This is supposed to be the most painful part of recovery.

I cannot speak to recovery yet.  I've heard it can be quite painful.  I'm doing this the Tuesday after law school finals and have almost a month to recover.  I will be staying at the hospital overnight and then returning home where I have several family members, and plan to sleep on a recliner with lots of pillows.  Pain pills, Christmas movies, and sugar free hot chocolate is the game plan.  I should be getting my drains removed Dec. 23 (6 days PO) before Christmas!  I'm going to take it easy, but I'm hoping to feel festive enough to sit and open presents and eat Christmas eve/day, and maybe even see friends New Years Eve--but all in good time.

My surgeries are going to cost $10,600.

I would have liked liposuction but my surgeon says it's not necessary.  I would especially like a thigh lift or lipo on the thighs--or something to get rid of inner thigh fat and skin but I can handle it.  The stomach was definitely the worst.  That would have to be a separate surgery, anyway.

Good luck!!

Hey Bethany!!!

First, a HUGE congratulations!  I am / was ALSO in the same boat as you.  I am 25 years old.  I have lost 180lbs in the past 3 years and I have the sags haha.  I am also an avid weight lifter and am currently training for a women's physique competition.

Last year I started researching doctors and went to about 9 consultations before I finally found a doctor I LOVED.  He let me know that I would have to do the surgery I wanted in two parts.  Part one was this past August and I had an extended tummy tuck and my boobies done (I used to refer to them as my 3 day old birthday balloons).  Next August I will have my arms and thighs done.

I took two weeks off of work for recovery.  I think the two weeks was a little soon.  I was fine to drive/move but I have a very active job (Wedding Planner) so I run around the hotel a LOT.  I was really pushing myself that first week back.  I was back in the gym walking on the treadmill at two weeks and I was back full on lifting at 6 weeks.

The total of round 1 was $18,540.00 and I paid for all of it out of pocket.  The next surgery will be closer to $15,000

If you have ANY questions at all please do not hesitate to ask at all!  I'm very open about the surgery!

GOOD LUCK!
