TT and Body lift.. What should I expect?
Hello all..
I am scheduled for my TT and Lower Body lift this coming Monday and really have no idea what to expect.
I know that what ever comes, is worth it because of the results.. However, I want to be mentally prepared.
How long will I be in bed for? How "uncomfortable" will it be? Am I better off staying extra days at the hospital or is home care ok? (I have that option).
I read somewhere about someone who had the surgery and couldn't lay down for 2 weeks.. Is that normal?
Thank you
Here is just about everything you need to know... I wrote about every detail of my experience: http://www.healthcentral.com/obesity/c/276918/160586/bariatr ic-abdominoplasty-ch/ I hope this helps.
With the LBL I wished I'd had a donut. My tailbone killed me for weeks.
Good luck!!!
I came home the day of surgery from my tummy tuck and came home same day from my lower butt and thigh lift and revised tummy tuck surgery. I spent 3 weeks in a lift recliner which was a God send. I could not lay in the bed without it hurting and could not pull myself up without feeling like I was going to split into. Stay ahead of your pain meds and you will be just fine. Even if you are feeling fine, don't let the pain start and then you have to play catch up, that hurts. Get you a walker to use for the first week, it will save your back and get a potty chair for the bathroom. You don't realize how low the toilet is until you try to sit down on it after surgery. I listed above on Jazzy's post some of the things that I found helpful to me. Please check that post out too! I hope you have a great surgery and a speedy recovery too!
Your pain is going to be mostly from whatever muscle tightening is done to your abs. The incision line tends to be numb. The drains can be uncomfortable, but mine weren't painful.
I stayed 2 nights in the surgical recovery suite instead of the one that was planned. This was because I was dizzy and a little nauseated - and you really don't want to throw up, cough, or sneeze right after this surgery.
I managed at home by myself using my bed. I think a lift recliner is an excellent idea. It took me multiple moves and shifts with pillows being tucked hither and yon to either shift position or get up out of bed. You're totally comfortable - as long as you don't move. The minute you move, your very sore ab muscles start screaming. Keep up with your pain meds. And make sure your doc gives you an anti-spasmatic med (like valium) and an anti-nausea med, just in case.
I didn't see the need for the toilet seat riser, but many folks get them and love them.
Expect to be tired. Expect to get depressed. Expect to get hyper-critical of your surgeon/surgery. Expect to get weepy. Expect it all to get better, because it will. Oh, and expect to swell. It'll be really bad for awhile, then it eases up. But the swelling goes on for months.
Believe it or not, despite everything, you're going to be happy you did it!
