First Plastics Consult Today

I had my first plastics consult today and I was feeling pretty good about it until I started thinking about it a bit more. He said I only need an extended abdominoplasty that a LBL wasn't really necessary. But he never saw my butt (which look like a shar pei) and he did look at my thighs and said that they could probably wait a while.

So while I thought it was a good appointment I am now starting to feel like it wasn't quite a thorough as it should have been. I also did not see any before/after photos of previous patients. This is a very highly recommended surgeon and is generally considered one of the best where I live.

To make matters worse I waited in the waiting room for 2 hours before getting into an exam room and then another 40 mins before I got to see him. The whole time there was 3 hours.

Keep searching.  Does this surgeon specialize in post bariatric and/or extreme weight loss.  Our surgical needs are often quite different.

Also I don't know if you go on the Men's forum here on OH but I knew a few have had surgery so maybe they can shed some light.

Go see a couple other surgeons before you choose. If you feel most comfortable with this guy give him another try...I knew my surgeon was right the first time I met him. I think he spent an hour just answering my questions, his office was overly accommodating, and it just felt right. It didn't stop me from talking to a few others before putting my money down.

Ugh, sounds like a crappy experience.  You should walk out feeling hopeful not thinking, "I'll never get that 3 hours of my life back."  Try a few more.  I'm all for recommended doctors but I'm sure there are other, just as good, surgeons in your area that will make your visit his privilege not yours.

Perhaps he is telling you thwt you need an extended abdominoplasty rather than an LBL (I actually though these wee the same thing) because he does not think he can do a good job with your butt. Also, is he a highly recommended plastic surgeon for post Bariatric body contouring? You need to find someone with a vast experience in thwt. Good luck and do not be discouraged thwt your first consult was a dud. Oh, and you never should have been made to wait thwt long!

Have done a couple of consults myself but the remodel of the house has take priority over remodel of me. Had one PS tell me that I had "deflated well" and unless I just really, really was bothered by the lose hide or was having infections etc I could leave well enough alone.

Keith:  You got great advice from above.  I would keep searching.  You will know when you find the right PS.
