6 weeks out still swollen

i'm 6 weeks out from my medial thigh lift my left leg is still very swollen my surgen said its because of the lipo done on that side. i can't wait for the swelling to go away, how long did your swelling take to go away? also on my left side about 2 in*****ision has come apart so now i'm back to wearing my ace bandages on that side. any input would be appreciated

I had swelling in my left leg after my thigh lift - I can't remember how long though.  Most times it wasn't too bad but I had a few days where we thought it may have been a blood clot.  Doc ordered an ultrasound just to rule that out.  No blood clot - settled down in a few days.  I also had a spot open up.  Not that long though.  I used a petroleum infused gauze on it to keep it moist - had bismuth in it that promoted healing - recommended by the PS - got it from him and then on amazon.  I wrapped the spot in a thin flexible adhesive bandage similar to ace bandages but much thinner.  It kept the gauze in place and allowed me to squeeze the opening closer together.  It fit under my compression garment easier.  I got it at the drug store.  Make sure you keep the opening clean and perhaps but some antibiotic ointment on it.
