Plastic Surgeons in Los Angeles?
Anyone have recommendations for a plastic surgeon in the Los Angeles area?
My PS is at least a year or two away, but I like to research early. :)
I'm already considering Dr. Sauceda and Dr. Capella, which would mean I would be traveling. But if I can find an excellent (affordable!) plastic surgeon here in LA, that would be great!

Check into Dr. Al Aly but make sure that you ask him how many has he done of the procedures you are considering and how often is he doing them. He is well respected among his peers but I have been told that he lectures too much when he should be operating. BTW you should ask this of any surgeon that you meet with.
Stay away from Dr. Agha unless you want to pay a fortune for your surgery.
I had a tummy tuck with Dr. Capella and am going back for more surgery on Oct. 10th. I will be traveling to NJ.
Here is an article that may help you to select the right surgeon for you http://www.healthcentral.com/obesity/c/276918/162591/intervi ew-capella-plastic-1?ap=831
Good luck!!!
I had my LBL, extended arm lift and breast lift surgery with Dr. Joseph Capella and I do not recommend him. I wish he had given me the results I was promised and that my recovery was as easy as he said it would be. I am not at all happy with the way that I was treated when I complained to Dr. Joe about my results. Neither am I happy with the way his practice treated me after they had my money. Also read reviews on vitals.com. I have found three negative reviews on him on that site. I truly don't know why so many people love him but the reviews seem to stop around 2010. It makes me wonder what happened.
This is very surprising. This is the first negative thing I've heard anyone say about Dr. Capella. I have considered using him when I'm ready for plastics someday. Are you able to describe what it is about the results that is unsatisfactory? Just curious! Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience!

I do not like my tummy tuck. He did not remove enough fat. When I spoke to him about it he pulled out the scale and told me to step on it and told me that it was my fault because I gained weight. That is a crock. I don't like my butt because it is now flat. I also do not like my boobs as they are much smaller than he told me they would be. So my tummy is larger, my butt is flat, and my boobs are smaller. My arms are the only thing that came out nicely.
I researched Dr. Capella extensively and have had two surgeries with him because I trust him implicitly to keep me safe and deliver great results. I also know many of his patients and they speak highly of him. I highly recommend him for body contouring.
When I researched him, I did find just a few negative reviews among the many many glowing reviews. They were to do with breast augmentation as I recall. I finally asked Dr. C about two of the reviews since augmentation is part of my next surgery with him. His answers satisfied me and I will be moving forward with the procedure next year. The other reviews were frivolous , for example one reviewer gave one star and wrote that one breast was square and she hoped he would fix it. I think that review is on this site, in fact.
Thanks for your input - not just with this post... but with all of the detailing of your plastic surgery journey that you do!! I'm definitely still going to consider Dr. Capella and get a consult with him in the Spring... well, if I'm close to my goal by then!
The idea of getting plastic really excites me, but makes me nervous too lol! Do you remember how long it took from the time you called for a consult before they could get you in for one? When you called and said you were ready to schedule surgery, do you recall how long it takes for them to get you in?
I ask because I was thinking of getting consults in the May - August timeframe and then getting surgery right after Thanksgiving next year. But I don't know how far in advance you have to book anything...
I hope you are healing well from your latest procedures!! :) How are the arms doing?

You are very welcome and I am glad that my posts have been helpful to you. I also post on RealSelf and write a column on HealthCentral Obesity site under the same avatar.
In fact, on HealthCentral I have written extensively about my tummy tuck surgery, and I now am writing about this most recent surgery. There also is an article series that I did with Dr. Capella on body contouring after weight loss that I highly recommend as I believe it to be a valuable education on how to go about selecting the right plastic surgeon for you.
I truly am taking a break from social media for a while but feel free to send me a PM and I will respond. I just stopped by the site last night to post an update on my arms. They are doing great!
