TT after open spleenectomy...

Hello everyone!

My name is Madison. I'm new to this forum. I am researching having a TT. I have only seen one PS (Dr. Kendal in Bentonville, AR) Although I really liked him, when I do the surgery I want to try to go with someone closer. There are two in a closer city. Dr. Ann Passmore and Dr. English. Anyone heard of them? They are in Fort Smith, AR.

Anyways... my question... in July of 2012 I went in for a spleenectomy and the surgery nicked my spleen and I started bleeding so he had to open me up and now I have a fairly big scar. In my consult with Dr. Kendal, he said the scar would pose a rather big problem. He would have to adjust the TT and not do it the normal way. He wouldnt be able to go up as high as normal and therefore would still leave me a little "fluffy" near the top of my abdomen. Has anyone experienced anything like this with old scars?

I'm hoping that my next consult with someone else will be more positive.

Thanks

I'm not sure why a scar would pose a problem.  In general, it would get partially or totally removed when the skin's removed (depending on where it's placed).  Hopefully, another doc will give you more information.

I honestly didnt think it would pose a problem either. I was very surprised. He said most of it would be revmoved with the removal of my skin. However, there's about a 2 inch portion that wouldnt be bc of the placement of it on my stomach. It said something about it runs along the line of an artery or blood flow (idk). And that if he went up too high with the lipo that it could cause the blood flow to stop and then it would make my skin like leather.... I am also hoping for better info and answers from a different PS.

Thanks for your respons.
