How can you tell if reviews for a doctor are real.

Hello,  I have lost 100lbs and had an ugly vertical c-section. I am looking for a doctor, but it's really hard. I would like to get a LBL and a TL I have seen lots of after pictures that make me cringe. I just went through the reviews for some PS docs on here and one looks well loved. He has 229 glowing reviews, but when I looked up the profiles EVERY SINGLE ONE had never posted anything else, had no picture and no friends.   (Now I understand the no friends thing because it has been difficult for me to get people to add me because I don't post much.)      Am I just too cynical or does this sound suspicious about the doc?

Here are a few surgeons that I have observed are "loved" by many of the patients on this board. It is a good starting point for you.

Dr. Joseph Capella (my surgeon) - NJ

Dr. John LoMonaco - TX

Dr. Timothy Katzen - CA

Dr. Agha - CA

Dr. Stephen Kovach - PA

Dr. Sauceda - Mexico (but I do not recommend going outside the US)

Be sure to search the Internet for patient reviews, not just this site. Also search the internet for complaints, sanctions, and malpractice suits against the surgeon.

Good luck!

PS although I have never heard him mentioned on this Board, Dr. Peter Rubin in PA is well regarded by his peers.

You can't tell if the reviews that are posted online are real.  Some docs pay to have reviews put up.  Some also force sites to remove negative reviews.

Don't discount the internet completely, but you're better off getting recommendations from your bariatric surgeon, look up the names of board certified plastic surgeons in your area, narrow it down to the ones who have experience with body contouring after extreme weight loss, and then go to their individual sites and look at pictures.  Once you get to your short list, have several consultations and ask for real people/patients that you can call and talk to about their experience.
