Mons lift????
I just had a mons reduction on August 2. I think it was lifted some, and made smaller by removal on each side. Of course,it's so swollen right now that it's bigger than it was before surgery! I have a incision in each leg crease that is about 4-5 inches long. I did have some incredible pain from this. At its worst, it looked like about an inch on one side was opening and the pain was incredible. Doctor assured me that this was normal, because the incision is in part of the body that sees constant movement, irritation such as I experienced is expected. And it was painful, I won't sugar coat it. But after the first week everything got better each day. I find the whole mons now to be tender and sensitive, but the incisions are fine. Some of the sensitivity is due to swelling, and is less inthe morning when swelling is less. It was done at the same time as abdominoplasty and there was an up charge for it.
Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora. Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.
I think a lift and a reduction are different procedures. A lift literally just pulls the excess skin from the mons up to the tummy tuck incision. I honestly don't know how a surgeon would do a tummy tuck without lifting the mons, but I've read that it's been done. There are no groin incisions with the lift.
Thanks, Megan. Seriously was 'the mons' that saggy that it had to be lifted. I don't mean that to sound like anything but incredible...I never even thought about that, just figured, stupidly, that it would just go down to normal size. I haven't done my surgery yet, as a matter of fact I just got my "tentative" date for 11/18...very excited! Thanks for helping me to understand.

Mine was a big sack from gaining so much weight for so long, and when I lost 100 pounds, it stayed the same size. It really did need to be made smaller. Now that my hanging tummy is gone and I can see the mons, I am glad I had it reduced. I would have looked like I had a little, or a lot of, something in my pants! You would think that it would get smaller as the weight came off, but it wasn't the case for me.
