2 months out LBL - Update

Hi Ladies,

Ok so technically I am 2 months and 1 week out, but here's my update.  Things are going great in the healing department. I still have numbness (which will likely last for a very long time) and my scar is still an angry red.  But the scar is flat and knock wood, I haven't had any wound issues.  A couple of small areas opened up and "released" a stitch but they closed back up again.  I'm using the silcone gel my PS sells 2x a day.  It is a little inconvenient to do that, but not bad at all.    The feeling of having a band around my lower half is residing a little, but I do still feel like I'm wearing a girdle all the time.

Clothes are fitting fine once I find the right size.  I still struggle with that a little.  My brain hasn't quite caught up, probably never will, because I still feel fat.  I look down and see all the faults.  We are our own worse enemy aren't we?

I've gained a little bit of weight back, which is downright scary.  Up 5lbs from my lowest.  That comes from eating more (stress eating too!) and not exercising all that much.  It is so tough to get back in the exercise groove after not really doing much for almost 3 months (I had hurt my back the month before my surgery, so my regime had been cut way back).  Work is crazy busy and there is a lot going on there, which accounts for most of the stress eating I've been doing.  I know I am doing it, I know it is not good for me but I totally lack the will to not do it.

One thing I have noticed is that with the little gain and the stress, the bliss I was feeling about the new me is fading.  What a bummer.  I knew that would happen sooner or later, but I was hoping to get a little longer ride on the happy train.  Oh well.

All in all though, besides the decision to have bariatric surgery in the first place, I still say, the decision to do a LBL is one of the best things I have ever done for me. Now... I'm off to the trainer and then the gym.  So gotta get my butt in gear!

Hope all is well!!

About 2 weeks out then again about 5 weeks.  Small little areas, like enough for the knot of the stitch.  It was a little odd, it looked almost like a pimple or ingrown hair right on the scar line but it was the knot.  Once I got the knot at (the first one by accident when I was putting on my silicone gel, the second one I used a pair of tweezers) it healed up in less than a few days.

You may get that new body high again once your results become obvious. For me, 3.5 months was magical. After my tummy tuck I went from my size 14s being tight to size 12 all the way up to 3-mos post op. I recall being in Dr. Capella's office and telling Scott, the PA-C, that I did not want to get any smaller. Well, two weeks later I was in size 8 jeans. I still cannot believe this is real. I have gone out and bought size 8 jeans from various brands and they all fit. I even have a pair of size 6. So, I am proof that your body still may go through a lot of change. It can take 6-mos, even a year.

For me, I guess that my swelling went down... I did not see the scale move but rather with the tape measure I saw inches come off when I went from the 12 to the 8. I am sure that you must still have a lot of swelling, so hang in there. I will bet that your results will get better from here.

I went from a size 10-12 to a size 4-8 after my surgery.  That stuff still fits fine.  My jeans are a 4, I have some size 6 shorts, dresses, skirts and my dress pants for work are a size 8.  Damn clothing designers.  I even squeezed into a size 2, they were tight but I got them on and buttoned and was still able to breathe.  HOLY MOLY!!

I would love to say the weight gain is swelling, alas, I think I am more likely to be retaining fat rather than retaining water.  :-)  My food intake hasn't been optimal lately.  That's on me.  Stress is a *****  I do indeed see some swelling, especially in my legs (I had inner thigh lipo also).  My mindset isn't where it needs to be but I am working on it.

I went from a size 10-12 to a size 4-8 after my surgery.   WOW!!!!!   As far as still feeling fat, I still look large to me. I asked my surgeon why I look large and he said maybe I am still getting used to my new body. I took that to mean mentally/emotionally. So maybe I am not seeing myself correctly but my husband asked me why I look large next to my GFs, too. So he is seeing me the same way. I dunno.

i can't believe it's been over 2 months already! i'm completely lacking in the exercise department too. i started a new job last week which isn't helping. i'm used to sleeping as late as i want, so getting up at 6 is killing me! i've given up on pants for now. i just don't understand how i've lost 6 inches on my hips but a smaller size still doesn't fit! guess it's dresses and skirts for now.

I am glad to be reading this thread at two weeks out.  I went into surgery a size 14, and came out a 14.  All my pants still fit, but they do look much nicer.  Of course, I am still swollen and in a binder, so I guess my expectations were somewhat askew.   While I would be satisfied to look better inthe clothes I have, I am glad to know that I probably will go down a size or two in the next few months.

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.
