Pain from muscle tightening

Had muscles done last Friday, almost a week ago, and find my stomach area really doesn't hurt.  However,my mid-back just aches.  Originally I thought that was from my sitting position and hoisting myself up with my arms.  My niece, who works at a ps clinic, says its because the pull from the plication  in the front is stretching the muscle in the back.  Makes perfect sense to me but I would never have thought that.  Anyone else experience back pain like this?

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

My pain was in the mid to lower back for about 10-14 days after my abdominoplasty as I was told to not stand totally uptight although I was told to walk around and move my body.
Living in Israel with Socialized Medicine and having my surgery in a public hospital as opposed to paying privately, I was in the hospital for ten days as I tend to have healing issues.
I think your pain is within in the realm of normal. Ask about pain relief or muscle relaxant.

I am jealous that you got to spend so much time in the hospital. That would have made it much easier on me and my family if I could have done thwt... Bt at more than $1k a day for a self pay patient, it would have been more than the cost of my surgery!

There are pluses and minuses to Socialized Medicine. But now I seemingly cannot get my breasted Dog Ears repaired via my HMO and I'll have to pay out of pocket - unless I win yet another battle.
Also remember I had the slough to gangrene and was treated with a Wiund Vac for almost seven weeks -and in the hospital BUT I live three and a half hours away via buses and no one at home to help me on the top floor of a hi-rise building and it was during the High Holiday Season so most of my friends were busy with work home and family including married children coming home for the holidays. I was quite lonely in the hospital although a few friends did come to see me a couple of times, I am a people person so it was emotionally hard for me.

Ugh, you have been through a lot. Iam not jealous of any of the other aspects of your surgery. My surgeon did a fabulous job and I did not have any comp,i cations. I want some revision done and he will do that for me at no charge for his fees.

My PS is willing although we are both aware of my strange wound healing issues.
My problem is getting the HMO to cover cost- I'm talking Day Surgery.

Being hunched over and lower back pain is really common.  Give thanks that the muscle repair isn't causing greater pain!

Everyone is different. If you have any concerns give your surgeon's office a quick call to find out if what you are experiencing is normal or not.
