Arms Consult Scheduled

Good Afternoon :)

I am scheduled for a couple arm lift consults.  I am so excited and nervous at the same time.  I have had plastics before and have some scarring in certain areas but I have other areas that literally have no scar at all.  (I have tan skin so I am prone to scarring).

Can you all please share some insight on arm lifts?.. Any information on types of arm procedures and/or before and after pictures would be really appreciated.

I just had an arm lift combined with breast lift and lbl 5 weeks ago. I love my arms so far and Dr Capella did them. He does a pie crust incision to minimize scaring which has not laid flat yet. I also like the placement. It's very hard to see the suture line unless I lift my arms straight up in the air.

Thank you for that.  Interesting I had not heard of a pie crust incision but I will definitely google it and see what I can find.  Congrats on your surgery :-)

I highly recommend the pie crust incision -- but that is not the clinical term for it so I do not know if you will be able to Google it??? Unfortunately, I do not recall the clinical term. Dr. Capella used this on my tummy tuck and it healed very nicely and no complications. It keeps the tension off the incision, which is what can cause the incision to migrate, open, etc. I cannot imagine I would ever let a surgeon cut me if s/he did not use the pie crust incision. I believe in it that much.

My surgeon, who did my TT, did not use pie crust incision and it was healed nicely and I have almost  invisible thin line.

With my arm lift pie crust insicion hurts like crazy . You never know what is the best.

I liked scar placement which dr Capella use, you can see scar only if you raise your arms up.

Hi Alla,

Do you have very fair skin? Did you use Dr Capella for your arms?  I tend to scar easily (tan skin) and that is my concern with the arm lift.  I have had plastics before so I know what kind of pain I will be dealing with but scaring Im concerned with...

Yes, Dr Capella did my arms.he is excellent surgeon.

But I have such a bad time with my armpits, they  were opened  1 week after surgery, it took 2.5 month for them to close and they are open again after 3 month.

I am going crazy with them.

Dr Capella takes very good care of me, I do not have any infection, just annoying and very upset about open wounds.

No pool, no beach, you know...

I have feeling maybe it is because he does not use compression garments for arms and incision were very tight, I do nor know.

I hope they will close.

Otherwise, my scars are good and healed.

I have fare skin and my scars from TT and breast lift almost invisible.

I had a long consult with Scott today about the next surgery that I have planned. One of the things that I discussed was my fear of my thigh and arm incisions opening. He told me that the compression garments will not help to stop that because the incision will open in the arm pit or the mons crease because there are cuts going in different directions there and this causes tension. There is not a way to put a compression in the arm pit or the mons crease.

So my take away from that is the compression garment would not make a difference.

If I recall correctly, Dr. Capella told me that there is a 25% chance of this happening. Scott told me that it feels like a skin burn. Is that correct?

I hope that helps to alleviate your concerns. As far as your healing, I hope that it quickly resolves for you.

From his website:

"Over the last 14 years, Dr. Joseph F. Capella has performed over 5000 body contouring surgical procedures on weight loss patients. This represents one of the largest experiences in the world. He has the largest published series of arm lifts, body lifts and thigh lifts in the world on the massive weight loss patient."

Maybe add him to your list of surgeons that you are interviewing. His prices are the best that I have found so even though I have to travel out of state to have my surgery with him, it is well worth it.
