Brachioplasty/Mastopexy, MALE edition
Hello all!
After some major lifestyle changes (at least a dozen diets, a personal trainer, and becoming a Zumba instructor), I've lost over 180 pounds over the course about two and a half years. I was determined to not get weight loss surgery because I feel that I did not need it and that I was too young and simply needed to focus on my goal and achieve it. Best decision of my life, but to each his/her own. I just wanted to throw my 2 cents up on this forum, as I feel a lot of the posts and responses are from women. As a man, I was curious to read about a man's experience. I had brachioplasty and mastopexy surgery last Wednesday, July 17th. So far, it was an awesome decision. I have had two post-op appointments so far. The recovery was not bad at all. I was off of the pain killers within 72 hours. To be honest, the worst part about this whole procedure is the damn compression garment! I have one that is like a midriff top: it clips in the front, covers 2/3 of my upper body, and has 3/4 sleeves. it is UNBELIEVABLY tight, but I suppose it's just doing it's job. I had no drains for the mastopexy and had one drain in each arm for 2 days. My doctor removed them at my first post-op, a mere 2 days after surgery. Only issue I had is that I got a nasty stomach bug this morning, loose stools, shaky, fatigued, fevered, sweaty, ears ringing. Thank god this happened the day of my post-op #2! I went to the doctor and he said it is not related to the surgery as I show no signs of infection. Everything is healing beautifully at one week out. I can remove the tape in the shower he said (allowing the glue to soften). One issue is under my left pectoral there is a little bulge (collapsed milk-line? he corrected and it retook, but the lump is due to the fact that my doc had to raise my nipple 8 cm and he removed 100 grams of tissue - compared to the normal right said that only had 30 extra grams!). Anyway, I post this as a little peak into a guy's perspective on plastic surgery. Arm lift and breast reduction/lift down, LBL and medial thigh lift to go! Should be all done within 18 months. Thank you all for your help in keeping me calm! lol. Although I haven't posted anything until now, believe me, your posts have been lifesaving over the past week for quick answers.
Their have been a few guys posting her in the Plastics journey but no so much in a long time. I think there was a DSer Joe C who had LBL and then Mastopexy. Another guy I think Mike. Guys have talked of swelling in the testicles on their LBL.
Well ladies talk of swelling in the mons so it seems normal to me that the surgery side-effect is swelling for sometime until and as the tissues heal during recovery time which can also be very individual.
Enjoy your hard-earned journey of Plastics. You deserve every aspect of it.
