Found a surgeon who will take my insurance for thigh reduction!

I have a consult with a local, who has me a year behind because of an insurance debacle -- I had to switch insurances to use him, and I was placed in the wrong plan within that insurance company!  Talk about a headache! It finally got straightened out by getting back in my original insurance. The fist one got pissed because I would not use an epidural for the surgery, and because I called him out on low evals in HealthGrades.com. The thighplasty is medically necessary, because of recurrent cellulitis infections,  so this is not a cosmetic thing.

Today I found the card of a plastic surgeon that I must have picked up in my DS surgeon's office.  I called to see if they worked with my Medicare Advantage Complete plan...AND THEY DO!!!!!

I still have an appointment with the local guy, -whose bedside manner sucks- on the 31st...and I made an appointment to see the other surgeon the fist week in August!

Here's the tricky part...I really want the local guy to do my upper body work, since that's what he showed at our support group meeting, and it seems that's what he's best at.  If I cancel on him, and go with someone else for the lower body, he'll likely get pissed and not allow me back in his practice.  He's one of two in my local area who does body work.  all others do hand, congenital and eye surgeries only.

Carmel is a long way from home, but I'm planning to check into a rehab center for wound care when I get out of the hospital.

Pray and swing critters that the guy in Carmel is the one for me!  I'm SO ready to have this over with!

I would be happy to call and talk with you on the phone (on my dime).
I have great overseas phone deals. Israel is seven hours later than NY.
You and I have been struggling in the battle for medically necessary plastics and dealing with bureaucracy.

Jazzy, Could you have the thigh work done first and then go to the other guy and just say that you weren't happy with the 1st sugery....

J G.-

.The local guy pretty much deals with pure electives (can you say CA$H patients), post traumatic injuries (car accidents, etc.) and congenital defect patients.  His motive for presentation to our support group I think was to get his post-bariatric practice built up. He addressed mastopexy, breast augmentation, and brachioplasty, and that's what he's most known for around here.  No a lot of people who have bariatric surgery are the extreme "pear shape" that I was.  Most have the "apple" shape, carrying most of the excess fat abdominally.

I really prefer one surgeon to deal with my surgeries, because he will know exactly what was done, how it was done and why, and I will have one place to go for follow ups post op, and revisions if necessary.

My participation in my surgeon's five year study will be over next May, and if I get the surgery now, I'll be just about done with the periodic drives downstate, plus, I could coordinate the visits for the same day.

I rather enjoy the drives, but with gas prices being the way they are, I often think: I could be having a few nice steak dinners with the gas money!

OK, now I'm confused about who you want to use, but that's alright.  I'm sure you will have more info after your appts. so keep us posted.  Hey, do you live near South Bend?  I used to live near Kalamazoo.  It's real pretty up that way!
