sensitive question

I know from reading around here and in other message boards that insurance doesn't cover plastics unless you can prove a rash.  Well I've needed plastics since my hystorectomy because I cannot feel anything "down there".  It's dropped from the point of my csection scar.  Do you think lack of feeling (which makes peeing a wee bit difficult and means never having the big "O" again) is proof enough that I will need a tummy tuck and a hoo hoo lift? Thanks

I would ask your PCP or GYN about not feeling anything down there. Is it numb? Did your surgeon do something wrong during your hysterectomy??  I have never heard of that before. I had the same feeling before and after so I'm not sure how surgery would help you get your feeling back.

I will ask my surgeon today and if she doesn't know then I'll call my gyn.  I guess I know it will help because when I physically yank it all up I can fee a lot more. I have to do that just to fully urinate. It's not something I ever thought about since I never really contemplated weight loss but now that I'm trying to vision the new me, I don't want that thing sagging down like that. Thanks.

I've never heard that issue before...so only medical professionals can likely answer that.  As far as insurance goes, there is no guarantee that insurance will cover any reconstructive surgery, even with rashes.  It depends on your individual coverage.  Call them and ask what they cover, and ask them for the written documentation to qualify.

In my opinion:  The loss of sensation could be due to the nerves being stretched so far.  I know with my breasts I lost sensation in my nipples when they were super large and as I have lost weight and my breast size has decreased, the sensation has increased.  The loss in sensation could be nerve damage from the hysterectomy, but you having sensation when you "pull it up" sounds more like stretched nerves not communicating correctly.  Also, I agree with others about your insurance coverage for plastics being completely specific to your policy provisions.  I know my insurance does not require a rash at all but mandates I be a year post op from my VSG and that the skin on my tummy hangs down a certain length.  Either way good luck in figuring out what is happening with this, we all need a good "O" here and there so this is super important!!

As others wrote- each insurance has different requirements as to criteria.
You might have rashes but because you clean well you don't feel pain from rash.
Sensation, nerves, ****** are one thing; but "difficult urinating due to the way your excess skin hangs and affects your urine and female parts means in my opinion that you need to see a Gyn/Urologist and not just a Gyn or Urologist. Be up front on your concerns and be proactive with questions: is the hanging skin a cause of these problems and would a panniculectomy help correct it?
