thigh lift and arm lift together?! Suggestions/advice please

Hello... thanks for reading!

back story- I had a gastric bypass 5 years ago and have lost 169 pounds and  16 months ago I had a lower body lift! (Very happy)

I need my arms and legs done...both extended!

Arms- incision down to my side to take off back/side skin/roll. Legs will need to be cut vertically and horizontally (down to knee)

Can this be done together? Has anyone done this before? Ball park price (I was thinking like 12-16k?) Any advice for someone who is totally lost?

Thank you soooo much for any help!

I consulted with 5 surgeons before my plastics.  Not a single one would agree to doing upper and lower body work at the same time.  Their reasoning was that you need at least one of them functional to maneuver and get around ok.  And heaven forbid, you end up with complications (like I did) I cant imagine having extended issues in both areas.  The quote I got for inner thigh lift was around $7000, and the arms were I want to say $5000.  I havent done either, and after what I went through with my LBL, I wont...

Thank you for the reply!

It sounds like u had a hard time with the lbl... I'm sorry for that! I'm not sure if I got lucky with my surgery or what but I never had any problems whatsoever (gastric bypass or lower bodylift)

I did a lot of searching on here and some people have had lbl thighs and breasts done at the same time! As tempting as that is that scares the crap out of me.

I asked one doctor and he said he wouldn't combined them.

I wonder if I hired 24/7 care (gave dr proof) or was willing to pay longer for the hospital if it would make a difference

My surgeon won't do them together either.  You need to be able to use either your arms or legs to get around while you're recovering.  With both of them out of commission, it becomes all too likely that you'll damage yourself.

But, as with everything, I'm sure you can find someone willing to do it.

Thank you for your input! My biggest question I guess would be is if I have 24/7 care (I will pay someone to take care of me for 3 or 4 weeks to take care of me) would the agree?

Will they not combined because I wouldn't be able to take care of myself or because it is honestly dangerous in other ways.

Thats the thing if most people/Doctors say no but I get "lucky" and find one that will... Its not smart to go against all of them?

I don't think he would.  He's very conservative....one of the reasons I chose him!

BUT I know of many people on OH would have used Dr. Sauceda in Mexico.  He combines multiple surgeries, even giving discounts for multiples.  And his patients love him.  I can't conceive of putting my body through that kind of recovery.  The LBL by itself nearly did me in, and it was without complications.  But you can probably find someone who'll do it.

I have a priority list.  My stomach bothered me the most, and that's where I started.  I'm having my thighs done in February.  If I survive that and I'm still willing to endure more surgery, I'll move up to arms and breasts.  It's like childbirth - you spend the early days wondering when the hell this sounded like a good idea.  But you love the results!  Between your arms and legs, there's one that bothers you the most.  If you could just have one surgery, either/or, which one would you choose?

I like and respect a doctor who will stick with his instincts (any doctor car "yes" you to death to get more money!)

They both bother me a lot... funny you ask which bothers me more because I have been thinking about that all day. I mean my arms and legs are so bad I'm 22 and haven't wore shorts/t shirt/shorts/skirt above the knee in a good 10 years. I just want to be normal... I want to know what it feels like to not have to wear so many layers.

I've looked into Dr. Sauceda but the fact he is in Mexico scares the heck out of me! I also tried to look at pictures and did not see anyone that looked like me. Arms seem easy for people to do but thighs I am worried about.

The lower body lift sucked but was worth it!

It seems like I need to do legs and butt or arms and breasts.

Medial thigh lifts are a very complex procedure. I have been researching this lately because I want mine done. They are awful. On Real Self a couple of surgeons weighed-in on how difficult a procedure it is. One said:

"Without a doubt medial thigh lifts are probably one of the most tricky body contouring surgeries." More here: http://www.realself.com/question/scars-medial-thigh-lift

That put the fear of God in me. My surgeon has the largest published series of arm lifts, body lifts and thigh lifts in the world on the massive weight loss patient. So I feel confident in his skills.

I am meeting with him next month to discuss staging my next surgeries. I need face/jowl lift and medial thigh lift as my two worst areas. I want breast lift and implants and arm lift. And please do something about my old lady back and buttocks. While you're at it, take a little more off my waist, will ya? hahaha

Not all of Dr. Sauceda's patients love him. I know of someone going through a lot of complications...

I would not find a surgeon willing to combine the procedures when no other surgeon's will. It doesn't sound safe. Take a conservative approach.

You can post this question to Plastic Surgeons on RealSelf and see what they suggest.

I went to a consult earlier this week, and a surgeon recommended (I need it all) to do the arms, breasts, vertical thighlift with fat transfer to boobs and butt first.  Then I need a horizontal thigh lift(my thighs are the worst), with a LBL.  I was thinking that I would like the top down first and then the bottom, too.  Part of me is excited to have as much done as possible, but it stands to reason that it can bring on more complications in recovery.  Hey congrats on your weightloss and on LBL!!
