Constipation after LBL (Sorry for the topic, but I'm dying here)
An alternative to MyBariatricLife's apple sauce fiber mix:
I call it my fiber sludge (I know, not appetizing) but I eat it for breakfast/snack
- Mix 1 cup Almond milk (or whatever "dairy" you use)
- 2-3 tablespoons of flax meal (adjust to your needs)
- 1 tablespoon psyllium fiber
- 1/2 - 1 scoop of your favorite protein powder
- Shake using a shaker ball or blend well
- Let sit for 30 mins and it will be a thick oatmeal consistency. I have this daily to keep me regular! I only needed to do that constipation thing once too........never again!
Maintain daily activity levels and practice clean eating........still battling some unhealthy behaviors!
I so relate! After my vsg, I had it so bad that I had to resort to gloved finger, and suppository. It is the worst. I thought I would avoid it this time after my plastics by being proactive. I took my colace every day, drank lots of fluids, drank my smooth moves tea (which has senna laxative and usually works well), but still severely constipated. On 6th day post op, I did suppository, and finally relief! I'm so hoping it doesn't happen again, but haven't gone again yet, and it's so scary and so difficult to go anyway with the binder on and without straining abs.
Congrats Robyn. I gave birth to my first poop yesterday, too. We're on the same schedule! My mom and sister were here and cheering me on! LOL. Had my 2nd today. Smaller.
Best advice I ever had was a bottle of Magnesium Citrate. A couple bucks at the drug store. States like cherry ick. I've been taking a tiny sip each time I go to pee. Don't freak out. I had the stuck poop thing after bypass and I was scared to death. No worries dear. It's normal. Relax and don't push too hard!
Omg, thats so embarassing, im glad to be alone while dealing with this horrible problem. I have had to do suppository again, and still having difficulty...drinking prune juice helped a little but gave me lots of gurgling pain in the tummy. This is lasting a lot longer than previous constipation episodes, and im not really sure why...hope u r continuing to have success.
