Struggling with the Scarring Issue

I'm only 7 days post op so I can't speak of my long term results yet. But I was very worried about scars when Pre-op, I scoured pics on the Internet, and looked at many at all different times of healing. Some looked awful, some nearly invisible. When I decided that I couldn't stand how my body looked any longer, I knew any scar would be better than the mess I was currently. When I saw my naked body the first time post-op, I was overjoyed at how great I looked, and truly don't think the incisions look bad and yet, they will get much better with time and healing. As many say, the trade off is worth it!

Scaring was one of my biggest fears going into this.  And, they have been realized.  I have scars down the outside of both my thighs that extend about 6" below where my hips are, and are visible in ANY underwear or bathing suit.  THEN I had pretty much my entire incision from my outer thigh around my back to the other thigh open up.  That scar looks so disgusting a gnarly.  Its jagged and has huge openings and then round contracted scars from where the open areas were.  I look like the bride of frankenstein.  My scars are all very dark purple/red, wide and jagged at this point.  Im 7 weeks out.  I know they will continue to fade, but to think I will have nice straight, even edged scars- yeah, wont happen until I go in for revisions.  Im hoping the next time around, they will heal better....  In the mean time, i feel like a total freak, and am very depressed.  So yes, scaring is definitely a BIG concern and one you will need to come to peace with, or plan for revision surgery to refine them if you arent happy- but no matter what, scars will be there.

You can have IPL or BBL light therapy while the scars are fresh to help soften the scar and remove the color. Mepitac silicone tape works wonders if you used it religiously. For those scars that you are extra concerned about, go to a dermatologist that specializes in scar treatments, it is amazing what they can do to minimize the appearance.

I'll post pics late next week when I'm in Orlando.  My scars are pretty faint and most are out 2.5 yrs.  The UBL is still a bit red.  I'd rather have the scars than the extra skin.  I was out dancing at 3 mo in sleeveless tops, my scars still pretty red, didn't bother me at all.  My LBL scar is totally covered with a bikini bottom.
